Newbie to RCCL and Sailing on Navigator March 2018, Questions???

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, this will be our first RCCL cruise and we are sailing onboard the Navigator March 2018. I have a few questions that I am not finding answers to on website, please help...

1. How much is Deluxe alcohol pkg for 9 day cruise?

2. Is smoking allowed in casino? Last Carnival cruise we could not gamble because my asthma was so bad from smoke in casino.

3. How are the shows? My husband is a big show freak?

4. Are there movies outdoors?

5. What is the food like in the dining rooms on a scale of one(bad) -10(excellent)?

6. How expensive are the domestic beers?

7. Is there a Texas Hold'em table?

8. Can you pay gratuities yourself or must you add it to room charges?

9. My sons love the sports activities like volleyball etc. Is there a lot of playtime?

10. Do you prefer RCCL to Carnival?

You can see the beverage package prices in your Cruise Planner on Royal's website.

The casino is the defacto smoking lounge.

Outdoor movies at the main pool.

Beers run $6 to $8.

You can pay gratuities youself in cash. You can go to Guest Services and ask them to discontinue automatic gratuities.

Sailed Navigator March of this year. Answers are based on that cruise, which was to the Southern Caribbean.

1. Not sure. Changes frequently with sales, etc.

2. Yes. It was smokey.

3. Ice show is very good. Other shows were okay; not as good as Oasis class. Can really depend on who the entertainers are for the particular week.

4. I think so - don't remember - didn't use.

5. Food is too subjective to really rate. Never went hungry!

6 and 7. No idea.

8. You can prepay your gratuities if you want to do so to have done with. Otherwise billed to Seapass account per person per day. Drink packages or individually ordered drinks have an automatic 18% added to tab.

9. Pool games usually involve volleyball. Sports court could have volleyball. Have seen more basketball.

10. RC.

We have done Navigator twice in 2014 and 2015 and are booked for Nov this year

1- check your cruise planner, on our cruise it is listed for 44 a day per person and I believe they add a 18 percent tip to package, we always get this and think its worth the money, unless you drink 4 or less drinks per day, package also includes bottle water

2Casino can be bad but I do not think it is that bad for smoke

3- Ice show is amazing we will never miss that, other shows can be hit of miss but we normally like them

7- There should be a hold-em table but open at limited hours

RCCL is our favorite line have not done Carnival in decades

Thank you all. One more question...Are you allowed to bring sodas, bottled water or juices on board?

Technically prohibited, but usually allowed. Spring break is the time when they are most likely to enforce.

The shows weren't all that in my opinion - second rate at best. Allure was much much better.

Yes to outdoor movies.

Yes to Texas Hold'em.

You can remove gratuities.

Good sports facilities. We barely saw my 16yo.

Sorry one more question: what is the dress code for formal nights? do men have to wear coat and tie? Women must wear dress? Is there lobster dinners?

Dress suggestions not enforced, you can wear anything you like.

1. How much is Deluxe alcohol pkg for 9 day cruise? Daily price/cost x 9 days, your cruise planner will have the cost.

3. How are the shows? Good. My husband is a big show freak?

4. Are there movies outdoors? Yes

5. What is the food like in the dining rooms on a scale of one(bad) -10(excellent)? Very subjective but I'd give it a 9

6. How expensive are the domestic beers? $6 to $8

7. Is there a Texas Hold'em table? yes

8. Can you pay gratuities yourself or must you add it to room charges? yes.... no.

9. My sons love the sports activities like volleyball etc. Is there a lot of playtime? yes

10. Do you prefer RCCL to Carnival? Royal but have never cruised Carnival

.

Were going this cruise in Feb 2019. Enjoy your cruise.

They will do some "production" shows...and on some nights, there are "guest" entertainers....comedians, singers, ventriloquists.....stuff like that. You are unlikely to know the names of the "guest" entertainers, as they work the cruise circuit, but they are usually quite talented.

Didn't see anyone bringing water on board but if you have the full package, small bottles of water are included.

No lobster in the main dining room unless you want to pay a surcharge
