Rare pierces Posted August 13, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted August 13, 2017 First light brought out some of our new Hibiscus blooms to greet the day. As a photographer, I am by nature drawn to flowers for their endless variety and because they are generally quite photogenic. Our new Hibiscus plants have gone past being simply photogenic and have produced some truly remarkable blooms. The branches are tipped with dozens of buds and when the flowers are fully open, they are 8” to 10” across. They were purchased online from a company that specializes in Hibiscuses (Hibisci?) and it is easy to see the difference between a run-of-the-mill Home Depot garden department plant and these plus-size supermodels. Krazy Kruizers Posted August 13, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 13, 2017 Our white hibiscus have also bloomed. I just haven't had time to take a picture. Too many emergencies.
zackiedawg Posted August 14, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2017 While I wait for my 100-400mm lens to arrive someday, went back to the wetlands with the 70-300mm lens this past weekend, so here's some of the local summer variety: Great egret landing: Pig frog hanging out in the water: Small white butterfly on a purple flower: Baby turtle with his leopard-spotted soft shell: Tricolor heron flying past the foliage:
