cinnamon Posted August 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2017 Has anyone used a shared shuttle bus from the airport to a city centre hotel? Is there any other option or should we expect take a taxi? Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare mskaufman Posted August 14, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2017 We have always found the taxis in Barcelona to be a good choice.
LondonTowner Posted August 14, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 14, 2017 The Aerobus runs about every ten minutes and is cheap. Taxis have a set rate which I think is around €32. Sent from my iPad using Forums
cinnamon Posted August 14, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted August 14, 2017 Thanks Londontowner. We've investigated this now and it seems that the Aerobus is the way to go. Our hotel is just 400m from the Placa Catalunya stop so I'm sure we'll be able to handle the luggage that far. At €11.80 for two it's a good deal. Will need a taxi to the port the next day anyway. LondonTowner Posted August 14, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 14, 2017 Last time in Barcelona our hotel was about 50m from Plaza Catalunya, so Aerobus was ideal. Sent from my iPad using Forums
suekay Posted August 14, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2017 We've used Aerobus multiple times and can recommend it (even with my elderly mother) Just be careful to keep an eye on your all bags while loading one. We usually have one person to watch while the other person lifts them on board one at a time. Apparently there have been instances of theft by bystanders in the past
cinnamon Posted August 14, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted August 14, 2017 Thanks for the advice Sue. It is easy to feel a little zonked when travelling, even after a short flight, and take your eye off the ball, I mean the luggage. suekay Posted August 14, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 14, 2017 LOL. And that's what the thieves (I was going to put a less politically correct word) rely on
LondonTowner Posted August 14, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 14, 2017 In other words, be aware of your surroundings and look after your belongings as you would in any busy airport. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Theredofshaw Posted August 17, 2017 #13 Share Posted August 17, 2017 We did the bus. Went smooth. Had to cab it back when we left due to time of day (ungodly early). Cab deliberately took us the long way and tried charging extra. Took a photo of his id and vehicle, emailed the company and was refunded once we got home. suekay Posted August 17, 2017 #14 Share Posted August 17, 2017 Good idea to do that. We've been ripped off by taxi drivers in more countries than I care to think about Sent from my SM-T550 using Forums mobile app
pris993 Posted August 25, 2017 #15 Share Posted August 25, 2017 It depends on how much luggage you have and how far you want to carry it... the airport bus is a long walk from terminals as I recall... taxi is much easier... not that expensive too. Jaynay Posted August 27, 2017 #18 Share Posted August 27, 2017 How do you pay? Will the bus accept my credit card? I am not charged for conversion rates. My hotel is on las rambles.
cinnamon Posted August 27, 2017 Author #19 Share Posted August 27, 2017 We'll be taking it tomorrow. I believe it's €1.90 per person and I don't think they take cards. You'll need to get some Euros at an ATM in the airport but Don't use an exchange bureau, they're a ripoff. Sent from my iPad using Forums
EnricM Posted August 27, 2017 #20 Share Posted August 27, 2017 Aerobus, price 5.90€ (five, not one!) If directly on board you must pay cash to the driver. If bought at the ticket vending machines, you can pay by ccard (VISA or Mastercard). There are machines at both terminus, on terminals T1 and T2 at the airport and at Plaça Catalunya, at the stop in front of El Corte Inglés Department Store. You can purchase them online in advance too, for convenience: http://www.aerobusbcn.com Best exchange rate is ALWAYS at the bank branches: Banc de Sabadell, CaixaBank, BBVA, Santander, etc. There are plenty of them in the city -and at the airport. A convenient one, from CaixaBank, is located also in Plaça Catalunya, opposite of the above mentioned dept store, in front of the hoho bus stops. suekay Posted September 5, 2017 #24 Share Posted September 5, 2017 We used to book at Hotel Continental at Plaza Catalunya end of Las Rambles, but last time booked Hotel Lleo only about 100 years from Plaza Catalonia and loved it. Both reasonable prices for Barcelona and both near the aerobus stop Sent from my SM-T550 using Forums mobile app
