moran4carnival Posted August 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2017 Question: are there buses or taxis in St. Maarten outside the port that can take you to beaches on the French side? Does anyone know the cost?
cruzeluver Posted August 16, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2017 (edited) Plenty of taxis. There is a large, very busy taxi stand with posted signs showing the fares to all the most common destinations (fares are pre-set, no running meters). We usually take a taxi over to Marigot on the French side. I want to say we last paid around $20.00 each way? Tiggertastic Posted August 16, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 16, 2017 Yes walk through the port shops following taxi sign. It's up on the right hand side. You may be asked if you're happy to share which brings cost down. We took the drivers card and called the same one for pick up Sent from my iPad using Forums
coevan Posted August 16, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 16, 2017 The buses on St.Martin are very good and run about every 5 minutes. You need to walk out the terminal to the main street, about 2 blocks. The buses are either $1 or $2 depending how far you are going. They are standard looking vans. The license plates say taxi.

The bus fare is, indeed, $1 or $2, but; The buses run on Backstreet, the one past Frontstreet. It is about 20 minutes from the Cruise Facility main gate. The buses are not on a schedule and may run in a group of 2 or 3, or it may be 20 minutes. They are vans, but the plate won't say TAXI, that would be a taxi. If it is a bus the plate will say BUS 123 or such. gary
