Does a reduced price equal reduced OBC?

Hi all. When I booked my cruise, I received a $250 OBC. The price of my cabin has gone down now, by $100, but the OBC is now only $100. If I take advantage of the reduced price, does that I lose $150 in OBC?

I'd call RCI, but their representatives are not the most knowledgeable these days.

If you are re-pricing your booking you are subject to whatever offers and OBC are in effect on the day that you re-price it.

In other words.....yes. It is currently better for you to stick with your current pricing.

I had it the other way. The price dropped and I had the TA redo my res. I got the new price plus 50 dollar OBC. The only thing is its non-refundable deposit. But I'm within a month of final payment and I have cruise insurance. I also had to go back to GTY for my room. But was not happy with the one I was given. Might be better.

I thought about transferring to a TA, as I'd probably get the new lower price and get to keep the deposit. But I'm a control freak, and like to have control over my booking. I've only been booked 2 weeks and already changed my cabin 4 times. LOL

You either call Royal Caribbean to change your cabin or you call/email your travel agent and instruct them to call Royal Caribbean for you. In either case you have to call someone to make the change. You've essentially lost no control, unless you feel you have to change cabins at 3 AM :-)

Ditto. I book day new cruises are released. Went on a cruise last Fall by time I sailed was on Confirmation #9. I watch and change every time prices drop or find better cabin...

Yep, we're the same. Lol

It really depends on the TA. I know some have bad experiences, but we've been very lucky with ours. He's quick to respond, and any changes requested are accomplished very quickly. We also managed to get a lower rate and some extra OBC. I also like having control over my booking, but I can still access the cruise planner and honestly, it's nice having someone deal with calling Royal for us.
