Cards in mailbox.

I never went to a line BEFORE security. Not in NY and not in Baltimore. There was generally a person there but basically I just held up my boarding pass, they waved us through and then we got in a short line for security. Perhaps it pays to arrive early [emoji12]

Haven't been out of those ports, but in Miami and Port Everglades, there are small desks as soon as you enter the building where they check your Passport/Boarding Pass. Then you go through the metal detectors. That way they make sure only people that are supposed to be there have access to the terminal. I've arrived early and it's been the same. Even before the cards in the mailboxes. If/when those ports go to the new process be prepared to be more than "waved through".

I love it and you can see many threads on this where I would say practically all the people who have actually experienced it loved it as well. Do a search.

I understand how it speeds things up and everything you said makes sense to me. My question is do you think if I added a gift card when I checked in like people who pay with cash - do you think it would cause a problem and defeat the whole purpose of fast checkins? I've read the kiosks don't work and the lines are long at CS. BTW everytime I do a search I get hits from 5 years ago. Is there a way to get current hits on your searches? Thanks - maybe I should do a search on that :-)

While it might be more time, it is either more time at check in or later. Depending at what it looks like at GS when you board, I might wait till late the 1st night.

I do cash accounts only and get around that issue by buying Cruise Cash with my discounted gift cards. If you want to add funds at check in, then you will be directed to another line just like the old way. I don't think they will do a GC at the first line but you could ask. That's why they try and send me to the other line, to add funds to my account. I just tell them it's already taken care of with Cruise Cash and skip that part.

Also if you have FTTF, then you can use the dedicated GS line. I have never had an issue with a kiosk. Some have reported problems with Gift Cards, but I haven't had any. However, if you're looking to add up to $500 with GCs right off the bat then get Cruise Cash. You can cash it out in the casino just like GCs. Just don't forget about it because you don't get the unused portion back.

As far as the search function, I don't know of a way to pull up a date range. I wish you could put one in.

I think it's a great idea. It helps the stewards get their jobs done and those who feel "it's my vacation and I will do what I want" and oh, " My steward said it was ok for me to drop things off" even though the doors they had to enter stated only people with FTTF, DIamond etc. could go to the cabins.

How many times have you seen that cruisers felt dropping off their carryon didn't cause any problem and they could do so while the rest of those, who followed the rules, lugged theirs around.

Once again, it's those who feel they can do what they want make, everyone else be inconvenienced. I am not saying that it's not a pain to have to show your boarding pass rather than giving your card, but thanks to those who caused this, the rest of us now are now having to do other things.

The selfish have created this mess, as well as others, so I hope they are happy with this new policy.

Know this is not new on the Splendor but questions.

Does anyone else feel uncomfortable having your sign and sail cards out in the general public? I just don't like this.

Anyone can just walk by and take whose card they choose. I know it may seem silly but it can happen.

If someone charges on my card I know Carnival can remove the charges but I don't want the hassle.

Can someone answer why they even went to this system? Does not make sense to me.

Thank you

If it is any consolation ours on the Splendor 2 weeks ago were in a sealed envelope. So if your envelope has been opened or tampered with go to guest services and get new cards. Easy peasy.

Process worked really well on the Vista in January. For all the people who say they are afraid their cards will be taken, you're on a cruise ship what do you think someone's going to do with the card? And besides there are cameras everywhere. Do you think someone is going to risk being tossed off the ship just to take someone's card?

If that were truly the reason, I think the cruise line would just program the cards to not work until 1:30. It is not beyond the scope of technology to do this.

The real time saver is at check in. Instead of everyone having to wait in line at the check in desk, you get to skip that step entirely. It falls in line with the whole staggered check in process.

Leaving the cards by the door does not stop people from getting in the way, if anything, people will check more often to see if their keys are there.

I have received the S&S card in my mailbox twice: once on the Splendor in Oct. 2016 and once on the Vista in Feb 2017. Each time was no problem at all; the card was in the mailbox, as were other cabins. I didn't see anyone in the halls that shouldn't have been, no one snooping around or anything like that. I like the new process and hope it moves quickly to other ships/ports.

Won't do them any good because they will be put there when the cabin is ready at the time stated on the door. Hopefully they figure that out when they ignore the sign and go in anyway to see no envelope. There is no need for your S&S card besides to gain entry to your cabin that early in the cruise as your Boarding Pass is used for purchases.

It also tells you on the card you receive at check in when your S&S cards will be available. Not that people can read or comprehend nowadays anyway.

How will that work if you pre purchased the cheers program?

It will be in the computer. You use your boarding pass. Then when you receive your S&S card later, you go to any bar and they will put the sticker on. Although it's really not needed because it shows up when they swipe it or when your folio number is inputted into the computer.
