RC Website: What A Mess

Recommended Posts

I tend to check in on my reservations routinely as I am a worry wart! Good thing I do. This week the website must have went completely crazy. The total price of one of my reservations had increased $600.00 :o

It took over an hour and a supervisor to get the price back to what it should have been. After that my OBC of $150 disappeared. Had to go around and around with RC for another hour to get it restored. They never could provide a reason why this had occurred.

I have 3 cruises booked with RCI. This week I called to see if there were any price drops. The RCI agent (C&A diamond plus desk) had a lot of trouble checking the prices, making sure that I got the correct price and that I didn't lose any of my OBC. She had to ask a supervisor for help with each reservation. It took longer than usual but I did get one price drop. She was very helpful and apologetic.

An issue which is pretty regularly posted here is people making a change through their my cruises account (eg changing dining) and it results in their cruise being repriced to today's rates. I'm not certain that this is what happened to you, but if you're interested in researching it further you could do a search to see some of the threads on this.

Glad you managed to get yours sorted out.

Why do people still use the RC website??

I do. I never have issues when checking in on line or printing Set Sail Pass or luggage tags. Also to review and possibly purchase shore excursions, set up MTD, purchase BP. I don't search for or purchase cruises using RC website.

Well, I just logged into the website...low and behold - it says we do not have a reservation. However, our trip was paid in full several months ago. I'll have to call to see what happened.

Hmm, I usually check during these blips and have been lucky so far. But right now I have no cruises in "My Cruises".

Your Reservation

You do not have any active reservations at this time.

Not sure how we explain my paid in full cruise leaving in three weeks.

I have made no changes to the trip since it was booked several weeks back.

After the Harvey fiasco, more amused than anything. Kind of hoping they did cancel my cruise.

After you booked it, did you add it to my cruises? It's not automatic. There will be a link there to add it - you need your booking number, name, ship, and departure date.

SORRY, THERE ARE NO STATEROOMS AVAILABLE FOR 2 GUEST(S).

Please update your number of guests, choose another sail date, or call (866) 562-7625 to speak to a Royal Caribbean accessibility specialist.

All I can say is WOW!!

It's always been automatic for me

Seems my cruise has disappeared as well and I haven't touched the reservation in several months, good thing it's not until April!

I still don't understand how RCI can have so many website and IT problems.

Neither do I. Both Holland America and Carnival's sites have always worked flawlessly for me. I'm guessing with 9 cruise lines CCL&PLC has more money for IT people.

My reservation and both of my cousins' are also gone. I tried to add mine back in but It can't complete the request. I'm going to check again tomorrow.

Interesting...it has never been automatic for me and I have done a few with RCI.

They incorporate all the latest technology on their ships so how do they find it difficult to run a trouble free website?

Because it's 2017! Websites should be bread and butter for any company. Especially one this size.

I guess I've come to terms with the fact that while the economy continues to be okay and the planet's population continues to explode at an alarming rate (fast enough to fill up all those new ships), the cruise lines have no incentive to change the way they do business. If RC can continue to "sail full" until the Milennials reach retirement age, they'll probably never bother to fix their IT crap till then.

I have emailed them and called them a handful of times, over the past few months, to voice my surprise at the ongoing failures of their website. I won't share my response when one of the agents told me that it was the first time she'd ever heard of anything of the sort..

I haven't been able to do online check-in for a couple of weeks now. Don't they really want you to check in online?

Have you tried the back door, without logging in:
