Just got to go with the flow....this kind of stuff makes life interesting.

Sascol Posted August 31, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 31, 2017 Is this almost like yelling fire in a crowded theater? I was going to say something very similar. PURE SPECULATION at this point.
HallOfPromise Posted August 31, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 31, 2017 Well, it's looking to form into a major hurricane and it is hard for me not to care about the people and livelihood within the potential path of destruction. Our cruise is meaningless to those concerns and honestly, it would be hard for me to have a good time on vacation when so much destruction is going on nearby. Biker19 Posted August 31, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 31, 2017 I was going to say something very similar. PURE SPECULATION at this point. Though, RCI might be even more cautious, not just because of the current Harvey issue, but Allure is missing one prop and down on speed.
HallOfPromise Posted August 31, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 31, 2017 Is this almost like yelling fire in a crowded theater? It's more like yelling fire in a crowded theater if a lit candle fell next to hanging curtains. It's not a fire yet, but it has the potential of being something very large. According to the current conditions and models Irma could be a Cat 4 hurricane with potential landfall, and that alone is something to be closely monitoring. Nah - More like someone is outside the theater, about a block away, smoking a cigarette and considering bringing it into the movie theater and sitting by the curtain. Way to early to speculate anything at this point - especially to title the thread "Probable change for Allure..."

Way to early to speculate anything at this point - especially to title the thread "Probable change for Allure..." I will disagree. That's what the predictive modeling is for, is purely to speculate ("predict" is a better word) where the hurricane is going. The hurricane is there. The current conditions allow for the storm to intensify greatly. Many forecast models line it up directly with the Caribbean and Florida. In my opinion, this is the perfect time to prepare. I'm not saying to start evacuating or sound the alarms now, but simply to keep an eye on it and be prepared for the worst case scenario. Again, I hope it's all for not. BoBoBoCruiser Posted August 31, 2017 #17 Share Posted August 31, 2017 I'm on Allure Sept 3 Sailing. We've sailed through hurricanes with RC before, and it's no fun! Both times they assured us we would stay out of the path, and both times we were in it. Even scarier on ship with limited speed!
Deptacon Posted August 31, 2017 #18 Share Posted August 31, 2017 I was going to say something very similar. PURE SPECULATION at this point. yeah considering its suppose to be smack dab in the middle of the eastern ports during the cruise..... its relevant. It his highly likely this cruise will switched to western itinerary.

Rare WrittenOnYourHeart Posted August 31, 2017 #20 Share Posted August 31, 2017 Ship sails Sunday, if they make an itinerary switch it will be in the next 72 hours.....thats way to early?? really? Considering they made NO decision about Liberty until the day it was initially supposed to sail? Yeah - I'd say 72 hours is WAY too early for RCCL to make any kind of call. At least publicly. KY Filly Posted September 1, 2017 #23 Share Posted September 1, 2017 oh my, because of the propulsion problem, I do hope that RC makes the best decision for all...... without propulsion the ship can not outrun Irma or others.......we can always exchange for another cruise in the future,,,,,,,,
Biker19 Posted September 1, 2017 #24 Share Posted September 1, 2017 ..... without propulsion the ship can not outrun Irma or others...,,,, As of now it could, Irma is only moving at 10 MPH and even with a prop missing Allure can still do about twice that. Reijo Posted September 1, 2017 #25 Share Posted September 1, 2017 We leave on Oasis 9/10. The weather stations are all saying that next weekend (of the 10th) that this storm could affect Florida as a CAT 5 hurricane. I know...... it's way too early to know for sure but hate to think of trying to leave on Friday (the 8th) to drive South only to turn around and have to drive back North. Worse than that would be everyone that would be affected by such a storm. Was the last CAT 5 hurricane to hit Florida, Andrew? Let's hope some of these models are correct and this storm takes a Northward turn.
