diane.in.ny Posted September 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2017 I was wondering if anyone could tell me how many tender platforms the Royal uses when tendering pax ashore. (I've been on Princess ships where they used one platform with tenders at each end so they were loading and unloading two at a time. But those were smaller ships.) Robinsoncruiseso Posted September 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2017 Whenever we tendered on the Regal (sister ship), I believe only one tender gangway was used...but I could be wrong..wouldn't be the first time. But with that said, as soon as one tender left another began loading. There were probably four or five tenders in the water at any given time. paul929207 Posted September 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 1, 2017 I believe we used 2 earlier this year on the Royal.
Steelers36 Posted September 1, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 1, 2017 I have seen two in use at peak periods, and then adjust to one other times. And not just on Regal (same as Royal.
Rare leck57 Posted September 2, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2017 I believe we used 2 earlier this year on the Royal. Same with us on the Royal a few weeks ago although occasionally one platform was used. If the OP's question was related to tender waiting times from the Royal, I was impressed with just how quick they got people ashore.

marypat01 Posted September 2, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 2, 2017 I've been on both Royal and Regal, like was already said, depends how many people want to go ashore and excursion times. They could start with both forward and midships and at the end of port time, just have the midships. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
floridalover5623 Posted September 2, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 2, 2017 Most time they operate with both platforms as I've seen it. The speed of loading is always been slowed down by how rough the water is which can sometimes be a large factor.
wheezedr Posted September 2, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 2, 2017 Speed of tendering is also affected by nature of tenders used. Sometimes port vessels are used instead of or along with ships tenders. They are often more open and generally load and unload quicker.
