Draketti Posted September 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2017 Which would be better for a 1st time cruiser if they have limited mobility and use a scooter (walker in the cabin only)?
1025cruise Posted September 7, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2017 Not sure it would make a difference.
chengkp75 Posted September 8, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2017 Just know that with either line (and in fact all lines), even though you will be using a walker in the cabin, the scooter must be stored in the cabin when not in use, it cannot be left in the passageway. Because of a Supreme Court decision, also know that not all areas of all ships are required to be accessible. The ruling was that older ships only needed to meet accessibility requirements if they were "readily accomplished" without the requirement of major structural changes. Therefore, newer ships will have more accessibility built in, over older ships.
spookwife Posted September 8, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2017 on board, you can pretty much assume every ship and every line will be comparable in both accessibility and policy. that means the scooter must be stored INSIDE the cabin AT ALL TIMES( you cannot just leave it in the hallway 'for a few minutes//which invariably turns into hours) make sure you know the dimensions of the scooter since the doorways can be narrow on standard cabins. sometimes just taking the arms off is enough get it through. other times, you need to have that handicapped accessible cabin.
