Will flight prices decrease any time soon?

We are cruising out of Miami for New Year's and need to make flight reservations from Atlanta. We're finding that flight prices are higher than we expected, perhaps because of Hurricane Irma. Should we "bite the bullet" and make reservations soon to assure we have seats or wait a few days/weeks to book hoping that prices come down a bit? BTW, we checked southwest to Ft. Lauderdale, and the prices are not much better after adding in the transportation to Miami.

You are trying to fly across a major holiday...that is the reason, not Irma.

 

Who knows whether prices will go down. I can promise you nobody here will be able to tell you.

Trying to predict holiday pricing and availibility is impossible. But you DO know lots of people travel during holidays. I'd book now.

That's definitely a holiday thing. The hurricane now wouldn't be affecting flight prices that far out. Anything around Christmas/New Year's timeframe is going to be pricey no matter where you're going. There are flight tracker apps out there you can use, but since you're coming up on just over three months out and that's one of the busiest flight times of the year, I wouldn't wait long.

If I was to take a guess the prices will not go down.

 

I would have booked by now so I certainly would not wait.
