Friscoonetwo Posted September 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2017 To anyone on the Crown right now, did they give you any reason as to why you missed Bar Harbor. DW and I were in Bar Harbor for a few days and were looking forward to seeing the Crown in the Harbor. Anthem of the Seas was in port on Monday and was impressive but really wanted to see the Crown. Thanks in advance
fishywood Posted September 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2017 According to the MarineTraffic website the Crown is making normal speed (11.2 knots) and will arrive at Saint John NB around 9 PM tonight. Nothing I could find indicated bad weather today in Bar Harbor nor any issues with the Port Authority there. So until someone on board reports what was said (or more likely not said) it remains a mystery. Curious if they will open the gangway at Saint John or remain offshore to keep the shops and casino in play.

Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted September 20, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2017 Bar Harbor is a tender port for all the but smallest cruise ships (100 pax), and many times when we have been there the ships sit within view of the dock but are unable to send tenders. Fog is the most common culprit, but apparently here it is heavy seas.
klj10825 Posted October 9, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 9, 2017 We were told the high winds and waves due to the effects of Hurricane Jose made a tender operation unsafe
satxdiver Posted October 9, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 9, 2017 We were suppose to stop at Bar Harbor 2 years ago on a QC-NYC cruise. We had to bypass it because the wind and seas were too rough to attempt the tendering process. I have seen other reports on here for the same reason. We were disappointed but that means we will have to *sacrifice* and do the cruise again. :D
