We've done this many times! Thank you for pointing out a very easy way of getting OBC back in cash. However, the OP wanted to pre-book excursions prior to boarding in order to get the ones they liked before they sold out and using their OBC.

Good luck on MSC! :eek:

We will be in their Yacht Club area....which gets rave reviews from just about everyone who has had this experience. Consider that the Yacht Club passengers get their own private section of the ship, private lounge (much larger and nicer then the Neptune Lounge, private swimming pool (with retractable roof), and separate restaurant. Yacht Club also gets their own staff, private (escorted) embarkation (you do not even get in the normal embarkation security lines), escorted disembarkation, etc. All for less money (per passenger day) then HAL Suites where the perks are not nearly as comprehensive. And I could add that unlike our recent experience on the Rotterdam (last month) we will not find large water leaks (from the deck above) in the Lido, towels sopping up water at multiple windows in the Crow's Nest, leaks (each with their own bucket) in the corridors, etc. Sure we like HAL (5 Star Mariners), but every line (we have cruised on 14) have their pros and cons.

Our promo included pre-paid gratuities. I don't want the OBC refunded either. I just want to use it for the excursions we love to do.

You CAN use the obc for excursions. Simply wait until you are onboard to book the excursions.

If u pay for the excursions before the cruise and get the obc paid out at the end, you are essentially repaying yourself for the excursions and using your obc for what you want it for

OBC given in a cruiseline promo is never refunded.

My point was that I just want to use it for purchases related to that particular cruise.

====

1. Book your excursions online before boarding.

2. Open your casino on board account like I said and get your OBC in cash from cashing out at the Casino Cashier.

The net effect is that you used your OBC to pay for excursion. I cannot say it more clear.

I think we all understand what your point is but it is not an available option with Holland America

everyone is trying to give u alternative ways of going about what you want...if u want to have it changed, write a letter to Holland America and maybe one day they will alter the way they do things but for this cruise, you don't have many options.

1.book and pay for excursions ahead of time and cash out available credits at the end of your cruise or through the casino

2. Wait until onboard and book available excursions and use obc

Yacht Club - which cruise line?

I didn't go into much detail because it is off the thread topic. But we are talking about MSC's Yacht Club which is essentially a "ship within a ship" kind of experience. Probably the closest comparison would be NCL's Haven Suites....although NCL does not quite have similar facilities that are found on some MSC vessels such as the Divinia.

HAL tried to create a similar ship within a ship experience with their Neptune Suites. But this is not even close to what MSC does with their Yacht Club. In some ways, the trend towards "ship within a ship" is akin to moving back the olden days of cruise ships where they had various classes...each with their own facilities.
