believe123 Posted September 30, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2017 Hey all, I'm trying to book our flight and I'm wondering if a 11:35 departure from LGA after disembarking around 0730 is enough time? Thanks so much. Haven't had time to research since we just booked today. Airline tickets are decent and I want to go on and book tonight.

Rare mking8288 Posted September 30, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2017 Hey all, I'm trying to book our flight and I'm wondering if a 11:35 departure from LGA after disembarking around 0730 is enough time? Is that the official ship arrival time or disembarkation time given by the cruiseline - ship & date ??? Please, do NOT rush to book airline tickets unless it can be changed or modified at no charge ! ! ! ! Most recently, both ships didn't docked until closer to 8 AM & the first wave rushing off being closer to 8:30 AM - then, it's a minimum of 30+ minutes to LGA on the highway alone, after 15 to 30 minutes getting thru CBP & then maybe another 15 to 30 minutes to get into ground transportation - leaving very little room for further delays, even if you have TSA Pre-Check & those lanes aren't always open on weekends with fewer scheduled flights. Thanks so much. Haven't had time to research since we just booked today. Airline tickets are decent and I want to go on and book tonight. I can't vouch for Carnival but if you are sailing NCL, both the Breakaway & Gem (Escape in later 2018 ... plus 1 or 2 special upcoming sailings) - vessels sometimes & often arrive early but it's been late. Unless you have priority disembarkation or VIP escort for Express / Self Walkoff - you are taking chances & playing with the odds ... granted that construction & roadway delays at/near LGA on weekends aren't bad lately. believe123 Posted September 30, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted September 30, 2017 What ship and exact date? The Disney Magic on the 18th of November. It says 0730. I decided not to book tickets tonight. Didn't feel comfortable and too tired to think clearly. :)

Thank you! I decided not to book tonight. Maybe we will just stay the day we come back from the cruise. The next direct flight isn't until 6pm after the 11:35 one. Thanks again! Rare mking8288 Posted September 30, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 30, 2017 With a planned arrival/docking time of 7:30 AM EST on a Saturday, she will be the only ship docking in Manhattan Cruise Terminal that morning, which is good. You can get a taxi (metered fare) or book a car service (Dial 7 or Carmel, which we here on CC used & recommend) for a quoted, confirmed flat rate - straight to LGA, allow 45 minutes curbside to curbside. Working backward, if you can be out of the CBP/area by whatever means (use porter services for their exclusive "fast" track exit is a definite +++) by 9 AM with ship on time & cleared quickly, and work your down the gangways, into luggage hall &exit, etc. You "should" be fine and be at the airport by 10 AM, traffic & weather permitting - with fewer scheduled flights out of LGA, give you 1 hour to get to the gate before general boarding, 90 minutes before FA arming the doors, cross-check for departure & taxi for takeoff. The Magic doesn't sail out of NYC year-round & there is no data for this season, it's difficult to anticipate its return from the Bahamas & whether the 90 minutes window would be sufficient for ship to setup the gangway upon getting cleared to disembark and for you to get off ... Have you check with the Disney forum on their protocols & procedures, along with priorities for those with "tighter" flight connections to make ? We sailed out of MCT often, mostly NCL but also with Carnival - majority of the time, you should be safe enough with an overall window of 4 hours for the air connection. The Magic has fewer pax than the bigger mega-ships, lines for taxi moved quickly & if you do the self walk-off option offered by other lines, wait time to get into a taxi is no more than 10 to 15 minutes ... about the same time as calling for or using the App to request/book a car service. It's a 10 minutes walk with luggage out to the pickup/transportation area from the long terminal, last few times - we waited less than 5 minutes for the car service/driver to pull up & meet us across 12th Avenue on W. 48th Street as it's easier for all. Details above ... hopefully, can help you evaluate whether you are comfortable in picking that 11:35 non-stop flight options, or, spend an extra day in NYC to sightsee and/or relax - is flying non-stop out of JFK an option with early afternoon flights ?? Taxi fares & car service will be slightly higher, by maybe $10 to $15 at most ... just a thought.
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 1, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 1, 2017 Glad you decided not to book such an early flight. Not worth the risk. Nor worth worrying about making it on time. Keith
