Victory! Posted October 5, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2017 I know you are allowed to bring a bottle onboard, but two quick questions: 1. Do you pack it in your packed luggage or your carry on? 2. Can you purchase while on the island and bring it onboard? No, only at the embarkation port. Otherwise, they would have no way of knowing if you exceeded your 1 bottle per adult limit. Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on board with the following exception - At the beginning of the cruise during embarkation day only, guests (21 years of age and older) may bring one 750 ml bottle of sealed/unopened wine or champagne per person in their carry-on luggage. https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2633/~/liquor-and-beverage-policy
Rare sparks1093 Posted October 5, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2017 It's supposed to be in your carryon. We did have a bottle of wine in our bag coming back from a port stop and security said nothing about it.
beachbum6264 Posted October 5, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2017 If you buy at a port they'll most likely hold it for you until the end of the cruise. Occasionally they miss a bottle in a backpack or bag.

teknoge3k Posted October 5, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 5, 2017 YES, you CAN purchase wine at ports and bring back on with you. However they will take it when you get back on and hold it until the end of your cruise.
Cruiseman38 Posted October 5, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2017 On my last cruise in July, we forgot to take our wine out of our checked bags to put into our carry on but it still made it on with nothing said.

elcuchio24 Posted October 5, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 5, 2017 Throw a few bottles into your checked luggage. We do that pretty often. Worst case they take it, and give it back to you at the end of the cruise. But, for use they have always made it through no problem.
easyboy Posted October 5, 2017 #10 Share Posted October 5, 2017 We always have it on our carry-on so we don’t have to worry packing it properly on checked luggage to avoid breakage. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I am sure they changed it because Carnival realized cruisers had nothing to lose by trying. Now it has become a risk.

But anyway, the loss of a couple $15 bottles of wine mean nothing to me. I still see no risk;)

I think the wine we had in our bag coming back from port was $5 so it wasn't a risk. Had they taken it they could have kept it.

Just to be clear the bag in question was a beach bag. I wouldn't put any bottles in my checked bags. Since DW can no longer drink wine it's a moot point for us.
