gydell Posted October 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2017 Can someone please tell me the difference in the bungalows besides the price?
Notion_of_the_Ocean Posted October 21, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2017 I did not stay in one while I was there but had did have a few chances to walk through some. They really aren't the iconic bungalows that you see in the pictures. The water in Tahiti is not quite the spectacular shades of blue. That being said the resort itself is excellent and is a fantastic opening act to an amazing journey. If you are set on getting a bungalow, then the motu ones had the best overall location but I personally would skip the bungalow here especially if money is tight. Wendy The Wanderer Posted October 22, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 22, 2017 A recent data point, not a personal one, but told to me just yesterday. These people stayed at the IC for two nights post-cruise. They said that although the property was beautiful, their room was in poor shape, needed maintenance and was dirty. They also said the staff was surly. They were not in an OWB, not sure what class of room, but not a dayroom either. Personally, having just stayed for the second time at Le Meridien, I would definitey stay there again. No overwater bungalows (their old ones remain closed perhaps permanently), but again the property is lovely and we had a great room. Granted, we were upgraded gratis to a junior suite for some unknown reason. All the staff at the hotel that we dealt with were lovely, with a great attitude. Prices for food and drink are crazy, as I'm sure they are at the IC, but there is an small but extensive collection of stores about a 5 minute walk away, including a supermarket, patisserie, boulangerie and several restaurants and snack bars. I would imagine that if you really have your heart set on an OWB, do it on Moorea, not on the island of Tahiti.
NubyKruzer Posted October 22, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 22, 2017 I will be staying one night in one of the motu bungalows (pre-cruise) and have been told they are very spacious and nice. My cruise is in three weeks, so I'll find out how nice they are very soon.

Rare TheDee Posted October 24, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 24, 2017 My husband and I stayed in the new OWBs at the IC in July before the Reunion Cruise. In the past we've stayed in the Panoramic Rooms. We loved the new OWB. They did a great job with the décor, the size of the outside deck, and the bathroom was wonderful. Granted, the color of the water is not the same as the lagoon in Bora Bora, but the views were beautiful. We had made the trip to Tahiti in one day leaving Boston for LAX then on to Papeete. Recovering from jet lag the next day on the lounges on our deck was just wonderful. We found the resort to be clean, the food great, and the service friendly. I can't comment on the older OWBs since we have not stayed in them. Linda

Rare Tahitianbigkahuna Posted October 25, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 25, 2017 (edited) gydell ... No the water isn't as nice as on some of the other islands. However, you stay at the IC Tahiti for other reasons. This resort is a well oiled machine for PG travelers. No other Tahiti resort is as well organized for the PG cruiser. If I was to stay 3 more more days prior to a cruise I would get off of Tahiti and over to Moorea. However, if your going to be on Tahiti for a day or two the IC Tahiti is a great intro place to hang and relax. The grounds are expansive, the pools nice, the view of Moorea awesome, the private lagoon super. But the one thing that really stands out at the IC Tahiti Resort is the shows. Every year the weekly shows at the IC are some of the very best in all of Polynesia. Just this last summer the troupe won the highest level of competition during their annual Heiva celebration. This is a big deal, sort of like winning a national championship. I was there in late July when the troupe put on a mini Heiva in celebration of their big win ... incredible, every bit as spectacular as the show at the Hawaiian Cultural Center on Oahu. The IC for many is like an old friend ... you never get tired of it and you take off where you last ended ... Taken from the lobby balcony overlooking the larger infinity pool and the private lagoon ... On the east side of the Resort, always a place for relaxation ... In the evening there are usually groups of outriggers practicing for races ... The smaller infinity pool .... what a view while enjoying a hot tub ... Tken from the walkway to the new OWB looking east ... Marquesas Warriors entertaining us during the show ... I was sitting on the side with the 'Mamas' ... Rare Tahitianbigkahuna Posted October 25, 2017 #10 Share Posted October 25, 2017 Taken last July at the beginning of their mini Heiva which was put on as a celebration of the victory, mostly friends and family of the troupe, I managed to take this picture from a distance with my longest lens and shot at an incredibly high ISO of 6400. This was the entrance welcoming dancers ...
