Buying OBC For Ourselves

As we do not use CC and operate on a cash only basis we always pre-pay as much as possible when we are going on trips. I would like to purchase an OBC for an upcoming cruise. If I purchase this on our Debit/Credit Bank card. If there is money left on our account at the end of our cruise will Princess credit it back to our account?

We used OCB purchased prior to cruising last Spring on the Star Princess. The refund was mailed to my home (took about two weeks). They will always mail a cheque if you didn't provide a CC.

Same with us. I always put some credit on my account via the Personaliser before we cruise and last cruise I had about $500 US in cash so I handed that over as well. At the end of the cruise I had a few dollars left and we received a cheque a couple of weeks later. If your credit is $25 or less they will pay that in cash at the Service desk.

The only OBC you don't get refunded is that given by Princess themselves.

Does anyone know the cut off date to purchase OBC prior to your cruise?. I know I can prepay gratuities up to 2 or 3 days before but there's no information about how close to sailing I can purchase OBC

Similar, but I would go with five days to be sure. I think I did casino credits about 3 days ahead once and it made it okay. Why wait to the last minute?

Will Princess apply charges to their OBC first and then to my purchased credit?

Some of the OBC from Princess is refundable. This includes veterans OBC and some OBC received because of an itinerary change.

Your folio will show nonrefundable and refundable OBC separately. All charges are applied first to the nonrefundable OBC before using any refundable OBC.

If you think you'll be cruising Princess again in the future, here's what I do sometimes if I think I'll need additional OBC onboard...

I go to the Princess website and buy digital gift certificates in 100 dollar increments and print them out, and as I need them onboard I simply go to the front desk and have them instantly apply them to my account.. The positive of using gift certificates is the one's you don't use, you can use as a direct payment to Princess (just like cash) for a future cruise or use them again on your next cruise as OBC like explained above

Easy Peasy
