hurricane0226 Posted October 14, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2017 Did you try the steak house, and if you did, what did you think about it? Thank you.
maxcat910 Posted October 14, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 14, 2017 Thanks Coopdog08, We will be on the Splendor soon. 1) Can you comment about the typical clothes you saw in the dining rooms on cruise elegant nights? I have read Carnival's Code, but I want to know what the actual practice was :) 2) What did you do in Nassau?--we are also rerouted there because of port changes. 3) Any advise based on your experience on this ship? Thanks!

Coopdog08 Posted October 15, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted October 15, 2017 Did you try the steak house, and if you did, what did you think about it? Thank you. Steakhouse was great! For $35 you can't get a better meal anywhere on land. I would eat there every night if my budget allowed.. There is a BBQ place above lido buffet. The pulled pork is dynamite. IMO it's better than the wok, burrito and guys. Food overall was very good. Ask for viktoria in the dining room, she was spot on with her recommendations and she was not afraid to tell you if it wasn't good.

Thanks! Cruise elegant night saw no issues with the dress code nor did I hear of any thru the week. I would say about 50% went all out with ties and nice dresses. The other 50% appropriate dress clothes that were appropriate. Nassau just walked around. We did the cruise cause it was free and for HMC and AC. We love beaches...and the pool area at AC. Ship was much better than expected. Nothing special but it was well maintained, great staff and easy to navigate. The pink didn't bother me. Overall the food without the guys burgers was probably best, not that other cruises have been bad. The burrito place tasted the same as the upgraded burrito place. The CD was Marq C I think how his name is. CD doesn't effect us. I do think people enjoyed him overall. Room temp was weird. During day it was nice and cool, at night it was little warmer, not hot but had to start night with one leg not under covers. Also odd was one side of ship seemed warmer than other side and no it wasn't due to sun. If you casino like me, I smoke so don't mind the smoke. I only think one table was non smoking which is weird for the casino as it's usually more non smoking. Two worse parts of the cruise, and I am not really complaining but it needs to be improved. Mongo Wok is just stupid slow and long lines. I question waiting 40-50 min for food, carnival needs to address this. Customs line at FLL needs to be improved. Started at 845 and checked out at 930 thru custom line. Lines moves continually for most part but it's just to long. It took 5-10 minutes to get off ship. Any other questions fire away... Another mention above of Guy's Burgers. Not on this ship is it? I was on this ship 2 years ago and the Mongolian Wok was the slowest place of all to try and eat with long lines. So I would say if Carnival hasn't changed this in the last 2 years we can't expect they will in the next two.

cruisebie Posted December 7, 2017 #15 Share Posted December 7, 2017 I was on the Splendor in Oct and there is no Guys Burger. They do have a grill on lido and the burgers there were pretty good imo. kitsbks Posted December 7, 2017 #16 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Hello, Just a Quick Question. We will be on the Splendor next year. Our room is on the 7's deck Aft. We enter on the lobby area, So how do we get from lobby area to the aft without using the Elevators to the 7's deck. Thanks for you time.
riffatsea Posted December 7, 2017 #17 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Why wouldn't you use the elevators?? IF you don't use the elevator you walk up the steps. That is true on all the ships not just on Splendor.
CoffeHound Posted December 7, 2017 #18 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Did you have a chance to try the tandoor place? If so was it good and how were the lines? We will be on the Splendor in January and we are looking forward to it! Thanks!
kitsbks Posted December 7, 2017 #19 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Thanks for the reply about how to get to the Aft of the Ship. I was hoping to be able walk down to the Aft . And take the Elevators up to my deck.:halo:

And take the Elevators up to my deck.:halo: We were aft our last cruise and just went up 2 flights of stairs in the atrium to deck 5 and walked the promenade to the back elevators. You'll be able to check out the casino, coffee shop, nightclub, etc walking deck 5.
mikesteg Posted December 7, 2017 #21 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Mention of "guys" meaning Guy's Burger Joint? I thought Splendor did not have a Guy's. Yes and no. They do not have the Guy's branding, but the burger patties themselves are the same. That is to say: these are not the crappy tasteless burgers from the dark days. They have a subset of the sides, but do not have the sauce bar/island. :loudcry: They also do not have SMC (Super Melty Cheese) but they have nacho cheese on the toppings bar, which is a decent substitute in combination with the cheese slice provided. Texas Hold'em tables computer or person dealing? Thanks Hold Em is computer. We've always had a great time (and the best luck of any of our cruises) in the casino on the Splendor.
