Cigar King Posted December 19, 2017 #426 Share Posted December 19, 2017 We have just returned from a B2B on the Adventure. We stayed at the Olive boutique hotel. It was super nice and they had power. We would likely stay there again. There were several places to eat and shop nearby. The hotel was in good shape, but, their elevator was not working. This was not a huge problem for us as we were only on the second floor. There were signs of damage in the area, including cables still down in the street, but, things appear to be improving. Happy Cruising.

GottaKnowWhen Posted December 25, 2017 #428 Share Posted December 25, 2017 Is the restaurant at the Casablanca open? I know it was closed for a while before Maria but I thought I read it was open now. We have reservations for four days before and after our cruise in February. I am going to check out Cucina di Ivo for dinner. Thanks for the update. Bootys Restaurant owner has opened in the Casablanca, his main site in OSJ is still without power, 3 months without air conditioning has produced mold and other deterioration, will need extensive renovation once the power is restored, so the small space in Casablanca gives him at least a bit of cash flow in the meantime. Had a nice dinner there last night. As I enter this, am sitting in the Cafe Berlin, one of a handful of places open on Christmas Day. Delightful Bloody Mary! cmmarch Posted December 26, 2017 #429 Share Posted December 26, 2017 Very anxious to hear if anyone has any hotel luck 12/22 La Concha - Renaissance Power La Condado area Great stay with superb service - from checkin to check out, to meals, etc. A+ Some stores/restaurants in area open. And some still closed. We also spent morning on 12/24 in Old San Juan - many stores and restaurants open also Puerto Rico Drug (in square near yellow tower) has lots of pre cruise selections from flip flops, blow up rafts, sunscreen, beach bags, etc. if you forgot anything. Taxis running and from airport we pre booked GO Shuttle which worked wee for group of 8 with luggage to get to hotel. Marine Machine Posted December 26, 2017 #430 Share Posted December 26, 2017 Stayed at the Condado Vanderbilt on December 1. Beautiful, albeit pricey. Well worth the cost. Functioning fully ... electricity, water, A/C, elevators, and restaurants. We would return there to stay longer.

Has anyone heard from the Sheraton Old San Juan on reservations after January 8th? That is when they claim they will start honoring reservations but they have already changed their date a couple times. I have a reservation for two nights starting January 21 but I feel it will be cancelled.
DCLCrazy Posted December 27, 2017 #434 Share Posted December 27, 2017 Just some FYI, I called the Acacia hotel to verify my reservation for January 27th. They did still have me and they are running on full power. No more generator, which means no cold showers. Yay! Tricialy Posted December 27, 2017 #435 Share Posted December 27, 2017 Checked into the Intercontinental today (12/27) - everything seems to be running like it was the last time we stayed here a few years ago. We went into Old San Juan and it was crowded, lots of stores and restaurants open.
Rare mitsugirly Posted December 30, 2017 #436 Share Posted December 30, 2017 I have been trying to find a hotel, preferably in the OSJ area, prior to our cruise, which isn't until April 1st. I have been skimming over this thread trying to see what people thought, experiences, electricity and so on. But I believe I have only seen several people post about staying in Hotel Casablanca...which I would love to stay there...however, we have 3 people and a lot of rooms are saying only 2 people and the other rooms that will hold 3 people say you have to stay at least 2 nights. We will only be there 1 night prior to our cruise. Any other hotels in the OSJ area open and available without having to sacrifice my first born son to pay for it? I understand they are struggling to get rebuilt, but the prices of these hotels are crazy outrageous compared to when we were here before and this is leaving a sour taste in my mouth about even returning here at this point (although too late since we are already booked and paid for). Try the Fortaleza Suites across the street from the Casablanca. I had a back-up reservation there 23 December due to the Casablanca "2 night minimum" policy on weekends, but then decided to stay in OSJ for 2 nights and so stuck with Casablanca. But in my brief dealings with Fortaleza they were quite responsive. Also, the Herencia next to El Convento is owned by the same guy as the Casablanca. Only 8 rooms. Other than that I know nothing about it. Stan

Or are they still only Housing post hurricane workers? Last time I checked the date they will accept reservations for it was May 1st. We bailed early while we could still get flight changes and will be spending our precruise night (Jan 19) in Florida instead.

When I put the info in on their site, it comes up with a bunch of different places (not sure if they are all located at the same place and just named differently or not). As for Herencia, they are 2 people only. :( **edit*** Actually I think when I click on the site, it's not actually this place but a list of luxury resorts. I tried another route and it says they are not taking reservations. Back to the drawing board.

Getting out there Posted December 30, 2017 #441 Share Posted December 30, 2017 We're staying at Hotel Milano. Just my husband and I. Close to 1 of the forts and they're going to hold the luggage when we get off the ship, so we can start touring. I'm frugal and the price was good. Haven't stayed there yet (Feb. 17th), so can't give a review.

Mitsugirly, What booking engine are you using for the Casa Blanca? I just did a mock booking for one night 4/1 for 3 people and it pulled up choices. I know that I have one night booked on 3/4 but I only have 2 people. I used Hotels.com

Rare mitsugirly Posted December 30, 2017 #444 Share Posted December 30, 2017 My TA sent me this link for a listing of hotels that are supposed to be open (and opening)...but it is exhausting putting in all of those addresses in google earth to see where they are located and then checking pricing. Of course you will not find a bargain... Between contractors, tourists from cruise ships and many not open at all, the price is set by the market place. jayred1 Posted December 31, 2017 #449 Share Posted December 31, 2017 Using hotels.com "CasaBlanca Hotel has no availability for your travel dates on Hotels.com :( Keep looking at the same places. People are booking multiple rooms and/or changing hotels all the time. When there is no charge to cancel, people are booking at different sites as insurance in case the hotel gets booked up by FEMA recovery workers. What is closed today could be open tomorrow.
