Sabres fan Posted October 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2017 I heard that Carnival is now charging for the towel animals in your cabin. Has any one else heard this? Is this true? I thought the ones they did in your cabin were free. I also thought you could buy them to take home if you wanted. Thanks
evandbob Posted October 21, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2017 Towel animals are still part of the room steward's nightly cabin service , or if you elect to have just morning service once daily, you will find a T. A. then. I've never heard of a charge for them, and I've never heard of someone bringing them home, since they usually fall apart when moving them anyway. There is a charge for an instruction book on how to make them however.
Shih-tzu Posted October 21, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 21, 2017 Maybe they were referring to the book you can buy and how to make them?????
Shaded Lady Posted October 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 21, 2017 Agree with Evanbob- I can barely move the towel animals from the bed to the sofa without them falling apart- I can't see getting them home intact! As for charging for them- I can't see that happening. Ever.
sanmarcosman Posted October 21, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 21, 2017 As for charging for them- I can't see that happening. Ever. I can't either but the day could come when they are no longer offered or only at the Diamond level. I am not being sarcastic.
Shaded Lady Posted October 21, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 21, 2017 I can't either but the day could come when they are no longer offered or only at the Diamond level. I am not being sarcastic. I agree- I don't see them charging for it, but it is a privilege that could be selective in its offering... Personally, having been on many cruises, they're cute for about 3 seconds then they get tossed on the floor or reused... unless I'm travelling with a new cruiser or with kids, I'd be okay passing on the towel critters! Sabres fan Posted October 21, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted October 21, 2017 Someone on a Facebook page mentioned that they say it on the Carnival website but could not tell me where. I did question them as I knew from reading here that that was unlikely. Just thought I would re-verify that I was right.
beachbum6264 Posted October 21, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 21, 2017 I guess you could take one home... but it would just be towels and you'd have to fold them when you got home. :) There used to be a stuffed 'towel animal' for sale in the gift shop. Not sure if it's still available or not. I've never heard anything about charging for towel animals - I wonder where people get these ideas. RedSails1968 Posted October 21, 2017 #10 Share Posted October 21, 2017 On our last cruise on the Breeze, I was keeping all the animals in a menagerie on the couch. One day I knocked the frog over and tried to fix it but it looked pretty bad. When we returned from dinner it was all fixed. I was so impressed that the steward would do that. We thanked him and he got a nice tip.

He just kept moving the frog from the back of the sofa to the bed! I was fine with this, as I mentioned previously, the towel critters aren't that big a thing, but I could see if you've got new cruisers or kids, part of the delight of cruising is seeing which towel animal you'll get that night! Can't see charging for the TA as others have said. Perhaps it was the book your friend was referring too. Txcroozer Posted October 22, 2017 #16 Share Posted October 22, 2017 Just off the Freedom today and we got our towel animals. For some reason our steward put them out with the morning service, free of charge [emoji2] Sent from my LG-V495 using Forums mobile app
nchikk Posted October 22, 2017 #17 Share Posted October 22, 2017 Great...I can just see John Heald posting something from someone, beginning with, "Someone on Cruise Critic has posted towel animals will be charged for..."
lady_cruiser Posted October 22, 2017 #18 Share Posted October 22, 2017 I have seen the mini towel animals for sale in the gift shops that are sewn together so they don't come apart. I'm wondering if these are the animals someone was talking about when they said they could bring them home?
saltshell Posted October 23, 2017 #19 Share Posted October 23, 2017 I always ask the steward NOT to leave animals. Feel it's a waste of space and energy. Been there done that. Guess I'm a party pooper. Sent from my SM-T350 using Forums mobile app
ButterflyGirly Posted October 23, 2017 #20 Share Posted October 23, 2017 My DD and I enjoyed attending a Towel Animal demo one time in the main show theater. The staff member showed us step by step how to make an elephant. They had towels there for the guests to do along with them. It was fun!
Out of Iowa Posted October 23, 2017 #21 Share Posted October 23, 2017 On the Dream last month, I was saddened to encounter just two towel animals in our cabin during our week aboard. Worst cabin steward service EVER - similar problems with bed-making and towel replenishment...after personally asking him for service twice a day. The average wasn't even once per day! However, for the very first time, I did see the Towel Animal take-over near the main pool early one morning. The had a handful of staff working on this project for 90 minutes or so. Some Serenity towels were used to make larger animals who lined the two benches at poolside (same series of animals in the same order on each side of the pool). There was even a wooden "house" with loads of little piglet towel animals inside.
MalleyCat Posted October 24, 2017 #22 Share Posted October 24, 2017 I love the Towel Animal Demo. We try to go every cruise and I can proudly say on our last cruise, my "dog" was almost recognizable! :')
