From the sublime to the ridiculous

For the posters that think "color" does not affect your trip. It does. The color and design of a ship, is carefully picked in order to incite certain behavior. For example, light blues and greens, relax a person, but bright ugly colors excite people, thus, keeping you up and going, spending money. I could go on, but Carnival is designed for Parties, and Gambling. (and is ugly!)

While travelling on some of Carnival's ships are the only times I'm glad I'm colour blind!

Have to chime in here. We always liked the Royal Caribbean decor but over the years it became apparent that all of their ships look essentially the same with minor variations. We used to think that Carnival ships were "gaudy" before we actually sailed on one. We have been on 3 now (Sunshine, Ecstasy, and Liberty) and we now really like the decor. I believe Liberty is my favorite ever in this department. Those color changing lights just mesmerize me. :D and the style, which I liken to a Greco-Roman motif is nice. I think it is cool that each ship has a "personality". Does the decor make or break a cruise? Absolutely not. I do find that it makes things interesting though.

I was on the Legen in June. I really don't know what the big deal is about the decor. I thought the ship was fine. The enchanted forest walkway is a bit much but you don't have to visit it. The ship has lots of places to sit quietly by yourself or in a group . The ship is easy to get around. The Serenity Deck is very nice and there is an adult only hot tub in the gym.

Actually, I do react to the decor in office buildings. It's not enough to cause me to avoid them, but it's still a visceral reaction I cannot deny. But again, ship decor is really not an overriding concern when I book a cruise.....it's a factor far down on my "needs/wants" list.
