Tillie43 Posted October 30, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2017 With hurricane season coming to a close, I’m curious where the ships go if a hurricane goes north to New England like Hurricane Sandy did. The storms that hit the Caribbean have many options. Anyone know?
Clarea Posted October 30, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 30, 2017 Depends on the length of the cruise. They could probably make the Bahamas.

cb at sea Posted October 30, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 30, 2017 Rare to happen. They will NOT sail into a hurricane...guaranteed. You would go south if something were to happen in your route.

The storms that hit the Caribbean have many options. Anyone know? It all depends on the path of the storm. When Sandy came north, it was turning east and a lot of the ships stayed up in Saint John and Halifax while the storm passed. Two ships came into Boston and rode the storm out there with tugboats holding them on the pier for the worst part of the storm. We only had heavy rains and winds in the Boston area as the storm was not a hurricane at that point. The cruise line will try to keep its ships out of harms way. The storms don't always cooperate though.
