hello,

Celebrity cruise addict here. I am looking to branch out and try a different line three weeks from now. Haven, worth 5500 for 2 people? Or, should I wait for a better haven deal in the future?

Greatly appreciate the quick feedback. Booking tonight. :p

Big fat NO. But, hey, that's my opinion. This is kind of an impossible question to answer. Worth means something different to each person.

I have only taken 1 other cruise years ago on RC. We have a cruise booked in the Haven 2 bedroom at the end of Dec. I didn't pay 5500 pp but close. Of course 4 days later the price dropped. Anyway, I actually had (have) buyers remorse. I now see other options and for the same price or less I could have booked a RC loft suite. I booked after the cancellation period so no going back now. I'm hoping I'm going to be pleasantly surprised. That probably doesn't help you though, sorry.

Value is in the eye of the beholder, and money is a really relative thing. Without knowing the ship, length, itinerary, ports/sea day quantity, etc etc there isn't a whole lot I can say. My wife and I find a lot of value in the Haven, but the things we get the most value out of are exactly what the Haven excels in, so we likely find more value in it than others.

Big ship amenities with the privacy of a small enclave. Extremely attentive service and being known by name, practically from the moment you walk into the cruise terminal. Elevated everything - bar, restaurant, service. Pretty much never needing to wait in line. These are some of the perks you'll get but only you can really value them.

This.

No one can answer that question but you. I don't happen to think it's "worth it" to pay $500 a ticket to see the Rolling Stones. But plenty of other people sure do.

It's a matter of personal choice, personally, I think it's worth it. First, I travel with an elderly parent and the Haven (2 bedroom) gives my mom every convenience and a living room or balcony to relax without having to walk far. She needs to save that energy for her nightly casino trip. This will be the first time she will have to follow a low sodium diet and I think the Haven restaurant will handle that well. This trip, we plan to take advantage of full breakfast in the stateroom, which we haven't in the past. The priority boarding and disembarkation also help when traveling with a senior.

I've never been on Royal so I can't compare to Royal suites but have been on 20 cruises - Princess, HAL and NCL . Discounting the advantages for my mom, everyone has different likes/dislikes on a cruise line; for me, the pool is key and the pool area on the NCL Away series ships is undersized and overcrowded for the size of the ship. I've been lucky to snare Vibe (CAS permits priority access) or be in the Haven (paid for the upgrades from the CAS cabin offered) Without either, my NCL enjoyment would be decreased.

You also have to consider whether you will take advantage of the extra perks you receive, which no longer have the service charges waived/absorbed in the cost. Is the drink package worth it for you, will you use the port excursion dollars; will you still need to upgrade to unlimited internet? The Haven restaurant and lounge are lovely but there are nice lounges and specialty restaurants throughout ships.

It really is a matter of personal finances, personal choice, ability to tolerate crowds, noise and your personal cost/benefit analysis.

Whatever you decide, enjoy your cruise!

It depends on your needs, and the ship. If you are on the Epic or Breakaway class or above, the Haven is an actual place with its own bar, restaurant, pool and other amenities. On the smaller ships, it may just be a private pool and a suite that may or may not be nearby. (There may be suites not in the Haven that are cheaper, but still have everything besides the private area.) You will have a separate breakfast and lunch in one of the restaurants, but I like having everything nearby, so I prefer the Haven on the larger ships.

On all ships, you will have a butler and concierge at your service. If you scroll around the topics, many people have no idea what to do with either of them!

We’re on the Jade at Christmas for 11 days, and our upgrade bid was accepted for an Owners Suite and we’ll end up paying just over what you’re asking - so I may have overbid, but I’m happy.

So, which ship (or class?) How long a cruise? Do you know what to do with a butler?

Most times I have paid $1000 per night for 2 people in the Haven if you count fare, port charges, insurance, and service charge. So $7000 for a week $10,000 for 10 days, etc. It is worth it to me just to have an extra bathroom in the cabin and never having to really stand in line. But I have cruised lots of times just in regular cabins and that was fun too. How long is your cruise?

This. We have low crowd tolerance. I would pay 5600 total for two in the Haven for a one week RT Miami.

$5600 for two people.

It's worth it to me. Might not be for everybody, but I enjoy the sense of privacy. It really is a ship within a ship. I enjoy being able to go out to the rest of the ship to enjoy everything offered onboard, knowing I can retreat to the relative quiet privacy of the Haven.

The pampering you receive from the butler and concierge, the private restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (on larger ships), all makes the Haven a must for me. The little extras like first boarding and first debarkation are big plusses, as is the private escort ahead of everybody else for the best seats at the Cirque show. I also am always amazed that the Haven staff seems to know my name before they ask me for it. Always wondered how they do that, but I guess they must get the pictures we take a check in and study them before we board. Pretty impressive and helps make you feel right at home.

Again, it's well worth it for me. May not be for everybody else.

Actually it is all a matter of how much you can afford. If I could afford $5500 per person, over $10K for a 7-night cruise for 2 I'd do it....but that is totally out of our price range and means. It's all relative to the amount of money you can afford to spend, for instance, I can't afford a $70K Mercedez but am perfectly happy with our $25K Subaru.

I know that I'm posting a little late, since you said that you should book yesterday, but for me the answer is defenitely Yes! Only you can decide if it's worth it to you but 5500 for 2 people in the Haven is cheap!

We planned to cruise on the Epic in the Mediterrean this summer but it should cost close to $10000 and we thought that was a little too much so we decided to try MSCs Yacht Club instead.

(I read the thread title again and saw that it was 5500 each and not for 2, then it might not be worth it. If the alternative is to go on the cruise but not in the Haven I should book the Haven but I think that it's a little too much.)

I love the Haven! We are sailing in 29 days and I am already dreaming of the wonderful service. I love that from check in you feel special. This will be our third cruise in the haven suites and I don't really feel that I have totally taken full advantage of everything that is offered. Our Butler last time was amazing!!! We had our Kids and grandkids with us in other rooms outside of the Haven and every night we would meet in out room for drinks (Adults only) and he would make sure there was a bowl of gummies and M&M's waiting for them. 5 happy little kids (they wanted him to come to their house and live). Have a wonderful time on your cruise

Book a real luxury line instead.

Eventually we'll probably end up on a luxury line, but not until we're in our 60s and want something more slow paced with limited options. Until then, the Haven gives us the best of both worlds -- large ship optionality and energy with the peace, quiet and service of a small ship.

Worth is relative to each person. I guess it depends on what you are use to. For me and DH-No. That is equal to 2 balcony room cruises for us. We always joke that we are just too "common" to need a butler. Neither of us care about priority boarding-the ship leaves at the same time for everyone. The private dining does seem nice and I wouldn't mind partaking of that, but I think that we have great food in the many other venues. We are in an Aft balcony this next cruise and will hopefully get to go to the Thermal Spa for the week-that's all the peace and tranquility we will need from the masses and at a much lower price.

I'll add that for us one of the biggest benefits is escorted disembarkation. I can't put a dollar value on it per se, but on all our cruises I've gone from Haven lounge to curb side taxi in less than 10 mins. This allows us to catch a 9am flight home. I'm usually back in my condo by 11-11:30 am with a whole day to recover before going back to work.

I look at those lines getting off the ship and say to myself "no way, never."

We were on the Escape in Oct. of 2016. We were in the haven Spa Cabin which was the lowest cost Haven cabin at the time. We loved the Haven. The ship was so crowded in the public areas we found that we retreated to the Haven many times when we tried to use the general population restaurants. The pool area was crowded you couldn’t even just walk through to the other areas. That being said, we didn’t like the pool in the Haven. It was like a wading pool in a very warm, steamy atmosphere because the roof was never opened. If we were asked if we we do the Haven again, I’d say definitely if it were the only option. We paid about what your offer is for your cabin. That being said if I were given a choice between the Haven on NCL and the Yacht Club on MSC, I would jump to the Yacht Club without hesitation. We just got back from the Divina for $2000. less than we paid for the Haven and we had a 2 room suite. The experience on the Divina was 4Xs better, so much so, we hope to bring our family on a MSC cruise in 2019. You’ll love the Haven. It’s worth the money for a NCL cruise.

Depends on the individual, their budget, their wants etc.

For us it definitely is not worth it since $5500 would be our total budget for the fare/fees/DSC for two people. We cruise in obstructed OV or inside cabins. Only twice did we cruise in balcony. Once was free upgrade, once was reasonably priced up sell. Only you can determine if the haven cost is worth it to you.
