netwrks Posted November 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2017 Has anyone been to the Tropicana’s in Costa Maya? Thinking of going for the beach and some drinks. Or any recommendations on a good place to go for a beach day?

formerlivaboard Posted November 19, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 19, 2017 I was there last week and it was amazing! Excellent service, great food and drinks, and the water was crystal clear with very little sea grass. In fact, this was my favorite day of my entire cruise! Give it a shot. You will not be disappointed! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
formerlivaboard Posted November 19, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 19, 2017 Forgot to mention...be sure to email Steve and reserve your loungers or tables. They had them waiting for us! It definitely filled up quickly because there were three large ships in port. They were turning people away by early afternoon, and 2 of the ships didn't even arrive in port until 11 am. Rare whitshel Posted December 13, 2017 #10 Share Posted December 13, 2017 Finally getting around to doing a review of our trip to Tropicante in Costa Maya from our Celebrity Equinox cruise this past August. It had been probably 6 years since we had been to Costa Maya and like most of you had no idea which beach club to go too. The last time we went there we went to a spot called the Cats Meow which was fun and really had great service. Well that went away unfortunately with, I think, Hurricane Dean. So trying to find a new place was overwhelming. So may reviews, but which one to pick. We decided, well I decided on Tropicante from the great reviews on cc. The port has grown since the last time we were there. You now have to walk around the entire half moon before you can get out then walk almost the whole half moon to get to the taxi area, ughhh. The taxis were $3pp, and I use the word taxi loosely. Basically Tiajuana looking Disneyland transports. Haha, but it was a fun ride. Rare whitshel Posted December 13, 2017 #11 Share Posted December 13, 2017 So after our short 10 minute ride to our stop, it's the 2nd on the tour. The 1st stop is at an actual beach club, they will try and get you to get off. Just stay on and get off at the next stop. When the driver stops you will be met by many people steering you in the direction of the beach club they want you to go too, just look for the Tropicante dude and he'll walk you to their lil piece of heaven. There is plenty of shade and shade structures to longer under or sun for those of you who want to burn. Rare whitshel Posted December 13, 2017 #12 Share Posted December 13, 2017 When arriving they will escort you to your loungers and start taking orders. They have a nice menu, I think we ended up at like $60 for the day, a few beers, a shrimp dish and cheesey dip with hot tortillas. Both were very good. Here are a few shots of the Maliceon?? The road all the beach clubs are on and the area Tropicante is, and yes there is a book store. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Rare whitshel Posted December 13, 2017 #13 Share Posted December 13, 2017 Ahh, that beautiful water!! Tropicante has a beautiful beach right in front of it. Nice shallow water, clear and warm. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Rare whitshel Posted December 13, 2017 #16 Share Posted December 13, 2017 So all in all we had a great day at Tropicante in Costa Maya, relaxed, walked a bit, played in the beautiful water and had some awesome grub, the service was great too. So if you're looking for a low key place to stay in Costa Maya, I completely recommend Tropicante. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Rare crewsweeper Posted December 18, 2017 #21 Share Posted December 18, 2017 Nice Review. Steve's a great guy. While not the old Cat's Meow, Tropicante is close to similar vibes as the old Mahahual. was. Did Steve direct you to Buster's, his newer place? salvagegirl Posted December 18, 2017 #22 Share Posted December 18, 2017 We were there in nov. Loved it, cant wait to go back. Because of the hurricanes there were several ships in port that day and steve had a full house. When he noticed we were not getting any menus or service he became our waiter. lol it was a hoot because he said he normally did not do that and to bear with him. I think we spent like 40 bucks the whole day there and had a blast.

LuvinDisCruiser Posted December 19, 2017 #24 Share Posted December 19, 2017 Thank you for your review ! We will be in Costa Maya next month, and took me a while to figure out which beach club to visit. We finally chose Tropicante, because of great reviews like yours. Rare crewsweeper Posted December 19, 2017 #25 Share Posted December 19, 2017 Tell me about Buster's. I was in Costa Maya a few weeks ago but have not heard of it. Haven't had the opportunity to go there, but it's Steve's newish bar a couple of blocks up toward the lighthouse from Tropicante, as I recall. Lots of local( Mexican) craft beer and distilled liquors. If you're in CM at Tropicante, just ask Steve about it.
