We are booking a cruise in Mid April 2019. The cruise goes from Florida to the Netherlands (15 days) What is the weather usually like in April in the Atlantic? Just want to be prepared. We did an Atlantic cruise in Oct - Nov from Florida to the Med and it was very smooth. Just wondering about a more northerly route in April.

PS - Just noticed that CC is still on daylights saving time :) :) it is really 6:12 am here on the east coast of US!!!

No one can say for sure what King Neptune will bring, but we have done several TA's in the spring - most recently this year in April.

Seas were smooth and most days the weather was very pleasant. It got a bit cooler as we headed North, but nothing unbearable ;)

Hope it is the same for you next year.

Just the same, I always pack layers as you will need them for your ports.

Lets see....It might be warm....it might be chilly. It might be rough, it might be calm. The sun might shine....it might be cloudy and rainy. I think that about covers it. We have done more than 2 dozen crossing (both directions) and this would be about as accurate a forecast as you will get!

We have done 3 west to east springtime transatlantics in the past five years including Fort Lauderdale to Copenhagen in April, 2017 on the Zuiderdam. Each time we left Fort Lauderdale in warm sunshine and pleasant weather. This continued for several days until we passed Bermuda. Then the weather became cooler, more cloudy and strong winds. In 2017 we had to skip the stop in Horta, Azores because of high winds. As we approached Europe, the weather was very cool and rainy. In two crossing we were going to Rome, and the weather became warm and pleasant once we were past Cadiz. This year the weather was cool and rainy for our stops in Cherbourg, Zeebruge, Amsterdam and Copenhagen. I think any time you travel in the Northern Hemisphere in the spring you have to be prepared for cool rainy weather.
