Jimmy Geegitz Posted December 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 3, 2017 I would never book a cruise on this tub. Ship is jinxed. Carnival should dump this piece of junk for whatever they can get and put the $100 towards a new ship. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

ianturner Posted December 3, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 3, 2017 A great ship, sailed on her 20 times, never a problem. Her captain Lemey one of the best. :p
NCbmwmom Posted December 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 3, 2017 We loved the Triumph. Our first balcony cruise. Although my nephew kept calling it the “Trump boat”. Haha maybe you’re right.

Thorncroft Posted December 3, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 3, 2017 I love the comparisons people are making to a car breaking down ocassionally. No, this is more like when you drive your car into the ditch and break it.
MAKINGWAVES Posted December 3, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 3, 2017 So sad that the poster feels that way. Oh well, leaves more room for us that love the Triumph.

I've heard it's a pitch control problem, nothing to do with any previous problem.

Rare jedi bobs Posted December 3, 2017 #13 Share Posted December 3, 2017 Personaly, I didn't like her hen I was on her, a very rough ride, even with calm seas. I would like her to be "Sunshine;d"
chengkp75 Posted December 3, 2017 #14 Share Posted December 3, 2017 What is a pitch control problem? The propellers are controllable pitch, which means that the "angle" of the blades changes to change the amount the propeller moves the ship per revolution. This is controlled by hydraulics to a mechanical linkage that moves all four propeller blades the same amount. Apparently, they can only get the propeller to 20% of its pitch, or power, so there is some work to be done on the propeller underwater.

I know in the past they talked about putting a little Sunshiny on her but that fell apart when Sunshine didn't take off like they thought it would. tcw92 Posted December 4, 2017 #17 Share Posted December 4, 2017 we have cruised on Triumph twice...the first time was a year or 2 after the fire and then again just this last September. Love this ship. I don't think it is jinxed, just normal wear and tear on machinery, could happen to a newer one as well. I would actually book again on this ship. MEUB1112 Posted December 4, 2017 #18 Share Posted December 4, 2017 Cruised on the Triumph twice, both times from NOLA, would do it again in a heartbeat. As an earlier poster noted the Captain was awesome.

CruiseAdict218 Posted December 4, 2017 #21 Share Posted December 4, 2017 Carnival Triumph is what got me hooked. Sailed on both her sisters within the past two years; Sunshine is probably my favorite though.

I know in the past they talked about putting a little Sunshiny on her but that fell apart when Sunshine didn't take off like they thought it would. The repairs can, and apparently have, been done in the water using divers, depending on what is actually causing the pitch to stop at 20%. I've seen repairs that needed remachining of the inside of the propeller hub, which required drydocking, that were done in under a week, and most of that time was shipping the hub to a place where it could be machined. BigEasyCC Posted December 4, 2017 #23 Share Posted December 4, 2017 Just checked ship tracker on Triumph's location. She's not in the Mississippi River yet. There's no way people will be boarding on time today. Just wondering if cruisers on today's voyage we're notified. Havingfun2010 Posted December 4, 2017 #25 Share Posted December 4, 2017 The Triumph was the last Carnival ship I sailed on. The poor shape the ship was in, plus, the lack of employees that cared. It is only getting worse, and not better based on the history of the posts, but yet, when a poster states the obvious, they are called a troll.
