Questions Regarding MSC Seaside

So right after posting up I saw this post from LauraS stating the child finder app is to be released on Seaside. Guess we'll have to wait a bit to see how well it actually works. I see "Smart cabins" are also in the works and I must say trying to envision what that might include. If it will run a hot bath for me as soon as I enter every evening before dinner that'd be great! :) I'm sure many will be thrilled to hear improvements in WiFi technology are also in the works.

And we decorated the door worth his for our friends birthday, the room steward was cleaning the room at the time and when we told him what we were doing he then left them a towel animal!2ae21c902c04945f807519bb9db797fc.jpg

Let' hope those WiFi improvements are already implemented on Seaside and that part is just referring to other ships in the fleet.

In any event, it's showtime! The first cruisers from Miami should be on the ship by now and hopefully the rest of our questions will be answered soon. More cabin photos, too.

When we were on Divina in Sept there was no craps. The tables were taken out. To much $$ risk for the casino and a lot of man power needed. We were told by the casino manager that the Seaside will be the same. No craps. I'll see on Jan 20th

Happy holidays

Safe sailing

Oh my that will be a problem. No craps is kind of a dealbreaker for us. Sounds crazy I know but that is DH favorite part of cruising. He hangs out on the casino and I hang out in the spa. My annual cruise group won’t sail without craps either. Grrrr

Seaside casino staff needs to read our post about craps.

If this ship is based in Miami ——that is what this market expects in a Casino.

Keep this post going.

Is anyone on the ship now that can confirm the absence of a craps table?

As mentioned up thread there's a lot of bodies needed for craps, and if played correctly a low advantage to the casino as well.

Saying that all the NCL ships I've been on all had craps

Is there really a craps table in the casino?

Can’t tell from the pictures or videos

In one of Matthias' videos a full sized roulette table and possibly 2 plus some other tables that look to be blackjack tables are definitely visible. None of them look to have the well a craps table has for throwing the dice, though.

Every ship I have been on including Divina (45 cruises across NCL, Carnival, Princess, Celebrity, HAL, MSC) have all had craps. Was on the NCL Escape 2 weeks ago and both craps tables stayed full constantly. I will be so disappointed if this is truly a no craps ship.

If you look on the msc app , and go to casino it states what tables etc.. they have 128 slot machines and no craps

I need to get that app installed. I've been too busy with all the usual holiday stuff to just sit down and get it done. Seems like so much information is in there.

NEW QUESTIONS THAT NEED ANSWERS

1. When is the Cruise Critic Meet and Mingle being scheduled?

2. The RFID wrist bands are supposed to work with the app to track your children around the ship. Is that working?

Answer: Recently MSC has said the tracking app will be rolled out soon. If anyone has a go live date please let us know.

3. Anyone done any of the arts and crafts in the Ipanema restaurant able to report back on what's on offer?

There is a video of a display of canvas totes, paintings, and it looked like painted plates which said it was crafts done on the ship but they were from the TA so I was wondering if those will also be offered on our cruise.

4. How do the hair dryers work in the staterooms? How do they compare to a good home version?

Thank you for the picture, nikkiw60. The ones I've seen in Seaside videos look similar. Can you tell us how well they work?

5. Does housekeeping replace wet or dirty pool towels or is there an exchange desk?

6. Are the doors and walls metal for magnet usage?

At least some are according to videos but was hopeful for some insight across the various types of cabins including Yacht Club.

7. Craps tables yes or no?

Sorry for yet another Seaside thread, but I have some questions regarding the experience onboard and I'm sure others do as well. Here's my list and if anyone has answers or any further questions please jump right in. :)

1. Do you board on deck 5 where it says "Seaside Reception" by the Atrium bar?

2. I've read a lot about musical offerings on the ship including Latin, Opera, and such. Are these all being held in the Metropolitan Theater? If not what other locations should we be watching out for on our cruise?

3. Do we need to book our seats for the shows in the Metropolitan Theater or can we just show up provided we don't mind where we sit? I've read the shows are amazing and won awards so we're really hopeful we'll get to see all of them.

4. How were the lines for the zip line and water slides?

5. What was the first thing you did when you got on the ship?

I was in the inaugural cruise from Italy so things might be different now that Seaside is in the states. We did have to reserve for all shows in the Theater. Download the MSC app ahead of time. You can book the night before each show. Yes there was lots of opera. Again I’m sure it was so much because of the length of the cruise. We greatly enjoyed the four opera singers but were not impressed with the condensed Madame Butterfly performed by the production cast. Other production shows were pretty good but short. Costumes were beautiful. There was jazz duo in the seaside/news lounge. Pop singer on main stage in atrium. Loud party music in haven lounge. And Latin in another place. Be prepared for lots of noise. Do the zip line and slides early in the cruise to avoid lines. Don’t overpack. There is insufficient storage in the cabins. Hope you enjoy your cruise.

I don't think the "market" is defined my Miami. Nationwide, slots are the most popular games for US markets (land and sea).

- Slots: 50% - 60%

- Blackjack: 20% - 25%

- Roulette: 5% - 10%

- Poker: about 5%

- Craps: about 5%

Thank you,Reeal, for the insight. Especially that don't overpack thing. I should probably just get a big sign that says that to hang over the bed I pack on.

Thank you all for all of the amazing information! I am now looking even more forward to my first MSC experience in March! I haven't seen anything about movies in the cabins or movie nights. Do they have complimentary movies to watch? What is the tv like on the ship? My husband will go nuts waiting for me to get ready if there is nothing for him to watch. haha

I was wondering if there are balcony staterooms on the Seaside that have the couch positioned by the balcony window. Most of the photos show the bed by the window, but I thought I saw a few with the couch near it. I greatly prefer the couch there since most of my awake time in the room is spent on the couch, not the bed, so I appreciate the view from there.

If you know specific room numbers with the configuration I am looking for, please post them. Thank you.

Yes, they have hair dryers. Yes, they work.

Yes, your stateroom host will replace towels.

No decorations are permitted on the outside of the door. I forget, but believe the interior portion of the door is metal.

Regarding the no decorations are permitted on the outside of the door thing. I've seen videos and pictures of several staterooms with decorations on the outside of the door. Wonder did they just put them up for the video or maybe not find out about this until later?

NEW QUESTIONS THAT NEED ANSWERS

4. How do the hair dryers work in the staterooms? How do they compare to a good home version?

They are just simple hair dryers and don’t compare to good home vetsion but they are adequate. Beware! I have long hair and some of it got sucked in or caught up in the back side of the dryer. I had to chop it out. Not a happy camper. The protection screen needs tighter mesh weave to prevent this.

5. Does housekeeping replace wet or dirty pool towels or is there an exchange desk?

Exchange desk at pool
