xbankguy Posted December 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2017 We are looking for a hotel in London for two nights following our cruise. Happy to hear from you with your recommendations. Thank you and happy cruising. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Grandma Cruising Posted December 7, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Might be helpful to also put this query in your Roll Call and in the Europe Ports of Call Forum, in the British Isles sub-forum. Sent from my iPad using Forums
woodlander1 Posted December 7, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Take a look at the Strand Palace Hotel. Very close to Covent Garden & theatre district. Right opposite the Savoy Hotel.
Priya2 Posted December 20, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 20, 2017 There are so many hotels in London. Probably best you look at the broad spectrum of reviews on Tripadvisor and Booking.Com (reviews can only be placed on B.Com by people who have stayed having booked through them, so all are genuine). Covent Garden and theatre district is a good suggestion. All of the sights are easy to get too by the London tube (what they call the subway in NYC). It’s fast, clean and efficient, with excellent, clear subway maps available at every station. Stations are on every couple of blocks. Hope you enjoy your visit to the UK. If you use the tube, be sure to buy a daycard rather than pay for each fare, as it’s likely to work out cheaper. Sent from my iPad using Forums You can now use contactless cards to pay for tube and bus travel instead of buying an Oyster card. These cap out at the travelcard daily cost (TOP TIP - take your first journey at 09:31 then you are on off-peak cap for the day).
xbankguy Posted February 19, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Thank you for your replies. Does anyone have a hotel recommendation within a short walking distance of Victoria Station.? Sent from my iPad using Forums
Belfastman Posted February 19, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 19, 2018 The Grosvenor Victoria is actually attached to Victoria station. Used this hotel many times and it is very good and convenient for many sights. Sent from my SM-A320FL using Forums mobile app
combine Posted February 19, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 19, 2018 If you want to be near to Victoria Station. The Grange chain of hotels have the Rochester and the Wellington, both in Vincent Square, Westminster and are less than ten minutes walk from Victoria Station. Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament , Buckingham Palace are less than 15 mins walk away. Deals to be had on Saver rates, but really does depend on your budget. Stayed at Wellingon twice and very happy with location. https://www.grangehotels.com/
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted February 19, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 19, 2018 If you favor the Hilton family, the Doubletree - Victoria is very close to the station. It is also outside the Congestion Charge Zone so you can rent a car at one of the Victoria rental agencies and drive back to pick up your luggage. Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted February 22, 2018 #12 Share Posted February 22, 2018 It looks promising. Have you stayed there. Thank you. No, but we are booked there in August. Cruise ends in Greenwich, several days there to see London, then rent a car and off to Devon, Cornwall and the Cotswolds [and no Congestion Charges!]
Rare travelberlin Posted February 22, 2018 #13 Share Posted February 22, 2018 It looks promising. Have you stayed there. Thank you. Sent from my iPad using Forums We have stayed there a couple of years ago. It was like any other hotel from the chain. We were satisfied because of the proximity to Victoria Station.
