kittykittygrrl Posted December 17, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2017 We're scheduled for this sailing date also. We have concerns, but nothing that merits canceling our plans. We're both healthy adults, but if there were health concerns that may have been an influence. Otherwise, we just plan to be extra careful and have a great time. Many, many more won't report it as they will be quarantined in their cabin. Why ruin their vacation? kaftigr Posted December 17, 2017 #10 Share Posted December 17, 2017 I just boarded Independence yesterday. We couldn’t board until 2pm and rooms were ready at 430pm. Everything is fine with the ship and canceling a cruise in January shouldn’t even cross your mind. Enjoy your cruise.

LizzyDragon Posted December 17, 2017 #12 Share Posted December 17, 2017 I wouldn’t. It’s rare for outbreaks to last more than one cruise due to deep cleaning during the turnaround day.
Ocean Boy Posted December 17, 2017 #13 Share Posted December 17, 2017 Cancel a cruise that is three weeks out because of something that happened last week? Why is there no emoticon for "sitting here shaking my head"?
davekathy Posted December 17, 2017 #14 Share Posted December 17, 2017 Thinking of cancelling IOTSeas after this Norovirus scare - anyone else? This close to the sailing date and lose what is paid for. No way!

Glad most of you who responded AREN'T going on this cruise. Geezzz.... Well your cruise is three weeks away. There should be no reason for one to be concerned that a ship would still have noro issues that long after an outbreak.

spookyfudge Posted December 17, 2017 #20 Share Posted December 17, 2017 Thinking of cancelling IOTSeas after this Norovirus scare - anyone else? Yes I did, used insurance loop hole and got future credit for my flights. I'm sure more folks will stay away until no further outbreaks.
grapau27 Posted December 17, 2017 #21 Share Posted December 17, 2017 Cancel a cruise that is three weeks out because of something that happened last week? Why is there no emoticon for "sitting here shaking my head"? Me too. In the UK we would lose all of our money if we cancelled that close to the cruise. The ship will have a deep clean after a noro outbreak so will be fine.

RVfromAZ Posted December 17, 2017 #23 Share Posted December 17, 2017 We are also booked on this cruise, no we are not going cancel, I always use extra precautions...do not touch handrails extra, so hopefully all will be ok. :)

Thanks for making me feel welcome here. Glad most of you who responded AREN'T going on this cruise. Geezzz.... The outbreak isn't anything new. Look at it this way. You'll be boarding an extremely clean/sanitized ship. Go and enjoy your cruise. Just use the same precautions that your normally would. Or stay home. Your choice. lbjen Posted December 17, 2017 #25 Share Posted December 17, 2017 If I could do it without losing any money, I'd probably consider it if I was booked. Some people just don't have the health to weather something like noro, I don't. But I couldn't see myself taking a financial hit to skip the cruise, I'd probably just overdo it on the precautions and hope for the best.
