New Casino Royale Tier System

How does this work?  I dont gamble but my wife does on every cruise, is points added up on all cruises or it is just per cruise.  Also were would you find your points with the exception of going on a cruise and putting your card in a machine?

For RC, you accumulate points when you gamble. I think it's one point for every $5 you bet. Betting does not mean putting money or slips in the machine however. It means pressing the spin button on a slot machine (actual bets). At tables, the dealer can also keep track of your bets if you tell them. These points go toward discounts for future cruises or even free cruises. 2400 points per cruise gives you a free interior room, 3800 gives you an ocean view, and 4800 gives you a junior suite. You get discounts for fewer points below the 2400. Say you get 2400 points. The casino person will issue you a free cruise paper with select cruises (for 2 people). You might want to look at the list before you decide to try and accumulate points in case you can't find a cruise or date you want. The next time you go on a cruise, you have to start over from 0 points....however, the casino knows all about your gambling history on cruises and they have a total. They use this total to issue things like free internet (at signature status) and free drinks (at prime status). You can't access that total yourself. The casino rep. has to look it up for you from your cruise history. Those grand total points will be reset to zero end of March, but if you were say signature status, you remain signature status...you just won't get to the next level that year. Remember the casino points are separate from cruise points. Those too will get you discounts and free cruises. Those are awarded 1 point for each day of a cruise and 2 per day for suites. You can't combine your casino points with your partners either.....but if you both get a free cruise or discounted cruise, you can combine those to upgrade when you book the next cruise. My GF and I cruise a lot and we have a fee cruise this Sun. Each cruise generates another free cruise for us and we have 11 booked in 2019. If we decide we want to go on a cruise that isn't booked, we call and sometimes, RC just gives us a free cruise anyway. I am using the word "free" but of course, nothing is free. You also pay taxes and port fees plus the gratuity on those free cruises.

For slots you are correct (from what they tell us at least) that for every $5 played you get one point. Table play is a bit more of a pain and leads to players questioning the points earned. From what they have said is that the points at tables give your 1 point per dollar of your average bet per hour.

I am not sure how they work it at craps tables or roulette tables where betting amounts really can vary spin to spin or roll to roll more than other games.

I play 3 card and usually put $5 on the 6 card bet $15 on the pair plus and the table minimum on the Ante bet. Then there is the play bet. It seems that I am getting credit for the anywhere from $25 to $30 I am playing per hour plus the Play bet. Makes it very hard to get the free cruise certs.

On the rare occasion that I play craps I will play $10 on the pass line and then once the point has been established I will back up with odd and buy the inside numbers for $44 (on a $10 table) and then if a number hits three times I will press that bet and I will start to buy the 10 for $25. I can tell you that I have never earned the 100 points per hour that this should equate to.

Even though many people swear that they don't, the casino DOES factor in your losses as well as your average bets and your through play.  They often use the losses as a discriminator if you are close to a threshold that would give you a certificate in the next higher category.  More than once I have had the casino host re-issue a comp certificate once he/she reviews my total points + losses.  They have a lot of discretion on what certificates are awarded.  That is why it is very important to introduce yourself to the host/hostess and make sure they recognize how often you are in the casino.

Balcony is 4800 points and Junior Suites is 8000 points.  You don't keep your status once you earn it.  Your status is reset each April 1st depending on how many points you earned in the previous April 1st - March 31st.  I'm Signature until March 31st. Starting April 1, 2019 I will drop to Prime as I only earned about 19,000 points.

I finally got around to calling Club Royale yesterday to verify my points for this cruising year and as I suspected, the points were incorrect.  He guy I spoke with said that they actually had 2 different C&A accounts for me and some of my points had gone on one and some had gone on another.  I asked how such a thing could happen and he really said he had no idea (which I expected, of course).  So he said that he would merge the 2 accounts and put all of the points on the original (and correct) C&A account.  One thing I know....once they have multiple accounts for you, it's a problem.  Even with the account mergers the points count is still not correct but it's not enough of a difference to move me from Prime to Signature (far from it !) so I'm not going to worry about it.  He said there is no doubt I will qualify for Prime again next year and that's all I really care about.  But it does bother me that the points aren't being recorded accurately.  I am going to continue to track my points carefully just in case.I might even go so far as to have the casino host sign an acknowledgement that the points I am recording for that cruise is accurate.

You are 100% correct on this. It will help you with the cruise certificate offer you get on board but will do nothing to the tier level you reach for the year. If they would make that adjustment the overall program would be more palatable than it is now. Take that from the one that almost always seems to make a donation.

I was told that if you get the 2500 points now (After April 1, 2018) you will qualify for prime immediately and will be prime qualified from April 2019-March 2020 as well. In fact CR told me that the benefits are enacted immediately following a cruise so that if you were on a back to back cruise, the status would be effective.

Honestly their communication is crap.

My CR points reached 3300 on the first leg of my recently completed Allure B2B.  I did not get Prime status - free drinks, etc. - on the second leg.  About ten days later I received an e-mail stating I had reached Prime.

We were recently on a b2b.  On the first cruise, a soon as I reached the required number of points, I visited the casino host to get a Prime sticker put on my seapass. For the second cruise, my seapass didn’t show Prime, so i again visited the casino host for another sticker. When the host saw me, she knew exactly why I was there.

Shortly after I returned home, I received an email congratulating me on reaching Prime.

I agree, their communication is xxxx. But the casino host was great!

Had I known it was "instant" status I would have talked to the host also!!  I thought it didn't take effect until 4/1/19.
