Could you use a knee scooter?

I am bringing a knee scooter on the cruise. Still will not be able to drag a carry on, hense the backpack.

I love my Lug Travel Via but it’s pretty big so they also have a regular Via which is a more manageable size. I buy on QVC for cheaper prices, especially when they have sales. It has hand straps, shoulder straps (cross body or regular shoulder carry) and backpack straps that can be tucked away. RFID pocket, small cooler pocket, shoe pocket, great pocket for your phone, pocket grist for tablets, papers, or small computers. It also has a luggage strap to connect to your luggage should you use it while traveling in the future when you’re not on crutches. I am using it on my cruise next week because of the great versatility. QVC usually has great infomercials to explain the bags.

 

Another thing I thought I wouldn’t like but ended up being a big plus, the padding on the straps is only on the top section and not throughout the whole length of the strap. I was afraid that would be uncomfortable. Turns out it is super comfortable, padded on my shoulder and then narrow for under my armpit, especially useful since I am large chested. Regular straps are thick and bulky and dig into my chest and arms.

Not to be funny, but just go to the store, and buy one. You have thousands of different ones on the market.

I currently have one backpack that I paid $10 for in WalMart. It went on every cruise/trip from 2008 until last year, when I discovered Lug bags. I currently have four Lug backpacks. They are light weight and all have the strap on the back so you can slip it over the handle of your rolling carryon. I have the Puddle Jumper backpack, Outfielder (out of production), Via backpack, and the Echo. I also have a High Sierra rolling backpack but I always used it as a rolling carryon. I have purchased from QVC, and also LugLife.com. I also research them on Amazon and eBags. EM

I'm post surgical, i cannot just go to a store to look. This is why i asked for suggestions. I'm shopping on line and its all overwhelming because i dont know exactly to look for. Which is why i asked for suggestions.

You did say you were looking for one to carry things onto the ship. Any back pack will work. Decide the purpose and buy one. Stop at K-mart, Sporting good store, WalMart, on the way home. Unless you are planning on using it extensively, like hiking or college, and all you want is to use it on an occasional trip, or on an airplane, than you can get the cheapest and most basic one you can find at any local store. We personally own 3, and not once did I "shop" for it, but just stopped in a store, and picked one off the shelf, and out of the store in 15 minutes.

We got a High Sierra, free, from our local casino. Instead of taking a roll carry on, with an unmanageable tote bag as a personal item, I just use that, carry it on my back with my roll on, works great. No more struggling with a wayward tote

I will need to use a backpack as my carry on this cruise. I have no idea what to look for in a backpack. A lot of them seem to be for lap tops. Any suggestions on a reasonably priced backpack?

Better idea, we bought a duffle bag with wheels and an extending handle for $20. online. Liked it so much, we used it on those long piers, like Amber Cove/Grand Turk/Cozumel/Grand Cayman/Mahog. Bay!

If you are also going to use as a beach bag these mesh ones work great. The sand can fall out and snorkel gear can drip dry. They are also lightweight.

Personally I love Jansport backpacks. I’ve had a forest green with leather on the bottom for at least 18 years. It is in fabulous shape and is the perfect size...not too big or too small. It is virtually indestructible! And it comes in a ton of colors/patterns. My daughters love Vera Bradley backpacks. I think mainly because they are pretty and have holes & such for headphones/electronics. They cost just as much as if not more than Jansport, but are made entirely of fabric. You can throw them in the wash but I’ve noticed fraying and tearing. I plan to bring my old reliable Jansport on the cruise.

We bought a Land's End backpack about 4 years ago and it goes on every cruise and flight we go on. If I'm not mistaken, we bought the medium size. It's comfortable to carry for both myself and my husband. Check online to see if you can find any promo codes for discounts on the purchase or shipping. I use a Jeep brand rolling backpack from Walmart, around $35. I've had to replace once but at that price, I don't mind. I've been using them for around 7 years or so, mainly for cruising but also a few one night getaways during the year. I use it at every port, hauling my snorkel gear and that darned heavy wet Carnival beach towel! :D

That's exactly what I did. Took my knee scooter to Kohls and bought it. It is exactly what I was looking for (I think). It was on sale, $34 and I got Kohl's Kash. Win , win.
