awestover89 Posted January 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2018 Does anybody have a neck pillow they recommend? We have a couple of the normal u-shaped neck pillows, and they work OK for my husband, but I tend to drop my head forward when I fall asleep on a plane and there's no support for my chin/front of my neck. We are preparing for a 17 hour flight to Singapore for a cruise in 3 weeks so I'd like something a bit better. I've seen a lot of references to the TRTL pillow (http://amzn.to/2mC7hHx) but it just doesn't look like it can possibly provide much support at all. It's basically a scarf with a chin rest from what I can see. There's also the BCOZZY which I see is a recommended item on Amazon (http://amzn.to/2D8JqpU) This one looks like it will provide a bit more support, but I'm worried it might be too thick where it doubles over on itself. Has anybody used either of these before? Do you have a different one you'd recommend that supports the entire neck?
easyboy Posted January 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2018 My DW just got in the mail the TRTL from Amazon. She still has to use it in a few days for our flight to Singapore from NY. It is not bulky like the U shape neck pillow. We noticed that the embedded hard wire to keep your neck in place is just on one side, unlike the U shape where you can lean on either side. Will let you know if it is any better to use for a long haul flight, Sent from my iPhone using Forums
dobiemom Posted January 16, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2018 I have the BCOZZY and I love it! I don't think it's too thick on the overlap. I bought it for when we go off-roading and now I'm more comfortable since my head is not flopping around. ;)
6rugrats Posted January 16, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2018 I've used the TRTL and it worked well. It provides lots of support, and I found it very comfortable. You can always order one, try it out a home and return if it doesn't work.
rccampbell Posted January 16, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2018 Another idea is to turn your U shaped pillow around backwards so it is supporting your chin VS the back of your head, or try it sideways too.
SuiteTraveler Posted January 16, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 16, 2018 I use this instead and it works great - I put the airline pillow behind my back to wedge in and the blanket around my shoulders - have gotten a full night sleep with this: https://www.amazon.com/Inflatable-Travel-Pillow-Sleep-Aid/dp/B074F3D296/ref=sr_1_sc_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1516134307&sr=8-13-spell&keywords=travel+pillown+for+airplanes Taking a sleeping pill is also helpful, but this is the travel pillow that has worked best for me hands down. ldubs Posted January 17, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2018 Mrs. Ldubs replaced our foam neck pillows with inflatable ones. They work a lot better than I thought they would. You can make them as fat or skinny as you want to fit your needs. I find I am most comfortable when I leave mine relatively flat. Added benefit is deflated they take up little room in your carry-on. griffy116 Posted January 17, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 17, 2018 Another idea is to turn your U shaped pillow around backwards so it is supporting your chin VS the back of your head, or try it sideways too. Same thing I do and it works perfectly fine.
