RCI won't remove the balcony dividers anymore!

I am soooooo upset! We have 3 Boardwalk balcony cabins! I called RCI to see if they would remove the 2 dividers upon arrival and was told that they are no longer removing them except for cleaning ( for safety purposes)! We are 6 seniors taking our first cruise together-we have all cruised before once or twice,but I am the one to organize this on Harmony after having a boardwalk cabin on Allure. Has anyone else heard this? I wish we could sign some kind of release form............

Ask your stateroom attendant on the ship, you may get a different answer.

 

It's not unusual for the customer service reps to have no idea about what goes on during the cruise.

We were on Freedom (Dec 23 - 31) and they opened the balcony dividers between our cabin and our son's family.

In the FAQ database used by the call centre when they don't know the answers, the official line is 'balcony dividers cannot be opened on board'. They can say that till they are blue in the face as the 'rule'. What happens on board is often different

Was just on the Liberty. Had 3 rooms in a row. Asked our steward when we got on to open them. Was done in 30 minutes. So RCI does still do this.

That's right....the folks on the phone have likely NEVER been on or seen a ship. They are reading off some script...very generic. Ask the cabin attendant. If they open, and it's safe to do so, it will be done.

From what I could see from our hump balcony, we were the only cabins that had the dividers opened. We had a pretty good view both ways and I didn't really notice any others.

It depends on the ship. Some ships have dividers that are fixed in place and cannot be opened.

There is absolutely no need to "drop" him anything to do this. If you want to give extra at the end of your cruise that's the time to do it ;)

All dividers on side-facing balconies have the capability to open on Indy.

Do you know about the aft cabins on the Indy? They look similar to the side facing but I never paid that much attention.

Balcony dividers on aft-facing staterooms on Voyager/Freedom class cannot be opened.

We sailed on harmony in August and our cabin steward had no problem opening the divider for us. Just ask when you get on this ship.

If you do open it yourself (I believe you need a tool to do that), be sure to carefully close and secure it when done....one cruise ship that recently went through a powerful storm, had some improperly closed balcony divider's get blown around and break windows....:eek:

We were just in Oasis last week, although we didn't have our divider open, we saw a lot of them opened below us.
