Passau transfer

First river cruise...We will end in Passau and will be transferred to Munich for the flight home. Has anyone had transfer problems? We will be on a Viking cruise and will probably have a depart time from Munich at 10:25. I am a nervous Nellie and prefer to be at the airport at least 3 hours early. If I have to retain my own transportation, I will just for the peace of mind. Thanks in advance for any information.

Given it is an hour and half to two hour drive (per googlemaps), and you have to be at the airport at least two hours before departure, and you say you are a nervous nelly, do you really want to have to be up and away from the boat by 5:25am on your last cruise day? I would either look at a later flight or spending a night in Munich and flying the next day.

If you're buying your air from Viking, and they give you a 10:25 am flight from Munich, they will ensure you get a transfer that meets that time. And yes, that could well be something like a 5:30 am departure.

But that goes with the territory. On a recent trip, we stumbled out with our luggage at 5:30 am, only to discover that we were the third wave that morning -- the first trip to the airport was at 3:30 am!

Over the years, we have just resigned ourselves to knowing that the final day is a washout -- no sleep, no breakfast, stomach in a knot until we're on the plane.

I've been on the 3:30 am run...no fun! At that hour of the morning there's no traffic, so you'll be there in no time. As was already stated, if you booked thru the cruise line, they will get you to the airport in plenty of time. Just relax and follow the instructions they give you.

Agree with Dave, I consider the last day to be travel day, not a cruise day.

I'm actually going to have an earlier than 3:30 departure from Yangon. I'm mostly flying on points (Star Alliance) except I couldn't make it home without huge layovers, so I am flying Yangon to Bangkok on a separate ticket, and then Eva Air to Taipei and on to Toronto. I had 2 choices of departure from Yangon but my TA said not to try it with less than 3 hours to connect so I have a 5:50 AM flight to Bangkok. At least once I get there I am on business class and will be able to sleep comfortably after that.
