hlsess Posted January 24, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2018 im looking at the Greek Islands Cruise. Is there a drink package? How does dining work? Last cruise was a silversea and we had drinks included and reservations each night. How many guests fit on Windstar?
6rugrats Posted January 24, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2018 All this information in on Windstar’s webpage. Reading through it would be a good place to start your research.
Pudgesmom Posted January 24, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2018 If you were disappointed by the entertainment on Silversea, you will hate Windstar. There are no shows, other than a crew show. Evenings are very quiet. As mentioned above, the website is very informative. Briefly, dinner in Amphora is open seating, no reservations required. Candles requires a reservation, and if you’re on the Windsurf, also for Stella Bistro. There is no upcharge. There are drink packages. Ships range from 150-300. You can also use the search function here for specific questions.
hlsess Posted January 24, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted January 24, 2018 thanks- will look at the website- was just wanting to hear from those that had been on this cruise line- so what do you do at night??
6rugrats Posted January 24, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 24, 2018 Have you tried using the search function? Lots of information, also read reviews. At night, go to the lounge for music and cocktails, go to dinner, there's music in the lounge or games after dinner. There's a casino and gym, though they are small. Watch a movie in your cabin, read a book, sit on the deck and look at the stars. If you are looking for production numbers, rock climbing walls, ice skating rinks, etc., Windstar is not the cruise line for you.
O2B@Cagain Posted January 24, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 24, 2018 We ended up having after dinner drinks in the Compass Rose. Listened to some music, danced, talked to people.Sometimes had a walk around the ship. We stopped and checked out what was going on at the Star Bar. Read a little. Relaxed. To me it was perfect.;)
new_cruiser Posted January 24, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 24, 2018 There are two wine packages - one for lower priced wines and one more comprehensive. One package covering wine beer and spirits. It generally takes about 5 drinks a day to break even on the packages. There's a deck bbq one night. Usually that night they bring on local performers. We enjoy talking to our fellow passengers in the evening in addition to what others have mentioned. Ski Mom 2 Posted January 25, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 25, 2018 Many of Wind Star's itinerary's are VERY port intensive. None or maybe one sea day. After a full day ashore, a lovely dinner, a walk around the ship and a cocktail in the bar or lounge with new friends, we didn't stay up too late so we would be ready to go the next day. It is a lovely time if you like good conversation, good food, making new friends, or being with your significant other. If you want major entertainment and auctions and lots of bad buffet food ;) you should look somewhere else.
