mistyinca Posted January 26, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2018 I've heard rumors regarding a new policy with gift cards being added to the sail and sign account. I can't find any threads about it. Is this just rumor, or is there something new. I cruised in November and January, and I didn't have any problems using my gift cards. We cruise in March. Thanks! Schoifmom Posted January 26, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2018 There is no "new policy." John Heald even addressed this on his FB page several weeks ago. You can apply any number of GC to your S&S account with no problems.

LouisianaCruiser4200 Posted January 26, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 26, 2018 If you apply more than 3 gift cards to your S&S account, shoreside has to be contacted to verify the cards. It’s an anti-fraud type thing. May take overnight to verify and get the amounts on your account

Shoreside was not contacted and credit appeared immediately. They gave me a receipt for every card that was applied to the SS account.

CamperAtSea Posted January 27, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Can the Carnival Gift cards be applied to your account through Manage My Cruise or must it be down once you get onboard?
Schoifmom Posted January 27, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Can the Carnival Gift cards be applied to your account through Manage My Cruise or must it be down once you get onboard? You have to apply them on board. Alternatively, you can use them to purchase cruise cash. Sent from my iPad using Forums
n6uqqq Posted January 27, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Sure would be nice if gift cards could be added when one sets up their sail and sign account online. That way Carnival could verify the authenticity right up front. Is this asking too much in the 21st century? I have been adding them at check in which isn't a big deal, but online would really be a good thing.
angeleyez915 Posted January 27, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Can the Carnival Gift cards be applied to your account through Manage My Cruise or must it be down once you get onboard? Last i knew you could do both sort of... online is cruise cash. you can purchase online until (i think) 24 hours before the cruise, and you can purchase physical cards that you can go to Guest Services to have applied to your account. I tried doing it as soon as i got on the ship and they told me that i needed to come back after we had set sail before they would be able to apply them, not really sure why, didnt want to ask a bunch of questions because there were so many in line and it really wasnt that important to do right then and there. BookDragon Posted January 27, 2018 #11 Share Posted January 27, 2018 This^^^. I was also told by my Travel Agent that my carnival gift cards can be used to purchase cruise cash prior to the cruise. That way I can be sure the verification process has occurred and my credit is there the day we embark.

rtfnl Posted January 28, 2018 #13 Share Posted January 28, 2018 We were on the Splendor over New Years and they limited us to 3 GC, period. I was on the Victory in Dec. and was limited to 3 gift cards until one of my $100 gift card was spent and then I could add another $100 gift card. I was told the 3 cards could not total more than $1000.
hawaiikat Posted January 28, 2018 #14 Share Posted January 28, 2018 Aloha! I have applied my GC's (both actual cards from AARP and ECards from Allstate) to pay off my two cabins for Apr. 22 departure. I used a total of 25 cards!

It seems as if Carnival is confused about how to handle gift cards presented while on the cruise. I just plan to purchase some cruise cash prior to boarding (purchased with gift cards), then just add actual cash if needed while on board. The last thing I want to happen is for some inconsistent policy to take affect and we end up waiting for the gift card to be processed while on board! I would not be happy! jessMN74 Posted January 29, 2018 #16 Share Posted January 29, 2018 Ok so If I am not mistaken.... You can buy gift cards to purchase Cruise Cash. Then if you don't use all the cruise cash you can go to the casino and cash our or they send you a check in the mail if it is over $10.00. Is this correct? jessykaw Posted January 29, 2018 #17 Share Posted January 29, 2018 Talking about gift cards, I currently have 4 and they are in my apple wallet on my phone. I can’t print them at work due to a firewall. Has anyone used their gifts cards stored in an apple wallet while checking in? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Don’t know how Apple Wallet stores the gift cards. But I’ve been able to put them on account with just the numbers, no physical card. Only had one issue with the card. After paying off a cruise I had a $1.80 balance, evidently the system doesn’t like these low amounts. Had to be entered by hand. Basically, it’s says Carnival Gift Card, the amount, gift card number, and a PIN number. The last cruise I had physical gift cards. I didn’t know if I could just show them my phone (apple wallet) and they could enter them when I am setting up my sail & sign. They already verified the card and the amount when it was used to pay off the balance of my cruise. Why couldn't they just forward the remainder into credit for the onboard account? Seems like a waste of efficiency on completing the transactions on the card in one evolution.
vinsheer Posted January 30, 2018 #23 Share Posted January 30, 2018 I added 1 $500.00 card and 3 $100 cards to my cash account in Long Beach, CA on my Jan 21st cruise without any problems. These were the actual physical cards. Cashed out the left over balance for cash in the casino. I did use the 'ecards' to pay off the actual cruise balance as well. Please continue to post which ports are putting a limit and why for future reference. Thanks!

Then if you don't use all the cruise cash you can go to the casino and cash our or they send you a check in the mail if it is over $10.00. Is this correct? Not completely. This is my understanding of the procedures from various threads: You can use a gift card before your cruise to purchase Cruise Cash. Cruise Cash is non refundable, but I think you can cash out at the casino. No check will be sent for unused Cruise Cash. You can apply a gift card to your account after you board. This will be refundable on-board credit, with any balance to be refunded in the form of a gift card (not sure if the $10 limit applies to gift cards). I think the gift card will be mailed. Or you can use the casino. You can apply cash to your account after you board. This will be refundable on-board credit, with any balance over $10 to be refunded via a check mailed to your address. Amounts under $10 will be donated to St. Jude. You can have a credit card on file for payment and be billed for any charges - nothing to be refunded/cashed out at the casino.
