Doc2725 Posted February 1, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2018 We are looking to do a 3 day cruise for a bachelor party. There will be 8-10 of us, 2 people per cabin, all balcony staterooms. We are going Columbus Day weekend, and looking to do a 3 night cruise to Bahamas. The options are RCI Mariner (have been on Explorer as a group and loved it), RCI Enhancement, NCL Sun and NCL Sky. Mariner is the cheapest, followed by Enchantment, then the two NCL's. The perk to NCL is the free booze package. Those of you who have done something like this, which do you think would be best? We are all in our late 20's and early 30's, and like to party (not loud obnoxious partying, more of listening to music, dancing, hitting up the casino, drinking, etc.)

You can re-do the math with that in mind to figure out how the prices work out. I've never personally been on any of those ships but, as a bachelor party connoisseur, I know how important the all-you-can-drink aspect is. Our TA is also giving us a $150 per cabin OBC, which is very appealing.

Deals change, but we recently booked a cruise on Royal Caribbean that (a) had the drink package at 25% off (US$42 per person, per day) and we had $175 onboard credit. Came out that we only need to spend like $30 per day to break even...heck, you could probably do that at breakfast on a bachelor party.
Merion_Mom Posted February 1, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2018 The Mariner is a great ship, younger sister to the Explorer, and will have quite a few "enhancements" added before you sail. I would pick the Mariner over the Sky, but as Zach suggested, add the drink package to the cabin price, subtract the $150, and see how the prices compare. I sort of want to take a break from Royal and try NCL. However, the age of the Sky & Sun are sort of a turn off.
crzndeb Posted February 1, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 1, 2018 Technically, not entirely free drink package on NCL. You still need to pay the gratuity on the package, but it won’t be much for 3 days, so weigh in that cost too.
