Cashing Out OBC

Hello! I have read multiple threads on cashing out gift cards in the casino. Would this process also work for cashing out OBC? I have $436 in OBC from price drops and credits from a cancelled Fascination cruise. Some will be used to pay our gratuities and I’m sure some will go to drinks and other fun stuff but I doubt we will use it all. Can I use the same process in the casino as cashing out the gift card and just cash out that OBC? I’m not sure if the way the credits are added to the account has an effect on getting cash from the casino. Thanks!

If it's more than $5 AND it's not from Cruise Cash, then they will just slip a check into your final bill on the last night.

You don't have to play the casino cash out game.

It's $10 now, and that is only true if it is refundable OBC. With non-refundable OBC, you still need to use the casino trick. Just clarifying :)

So any time you have an OBC you can just go to the casino and they will give you the OBC in cash?

Oh no

You have to sit down at a slot machine

Put your S&S card into the machine

Create a PIN

Transfer the money from your S&S acount into your casino account

Play a spin or 2

Pill your card out

Go to casino cage and close out your casino account

Or, just wait until last night and Guest Services will give you a check

Assuming this still works, haven't cruised in 4 years

OBC Cash out Trick

1) Go to a slot machine.

2) Insert your S&S card in the slot.

3) Press the button that says load money from S&S account.

4) You will have to set up your card by entering your date of birth and then selecting a 4 digit pin.

5) You will then select the amount you wish to load on the card.

5.5) Play on the slots if you want to dance with lady luck........

6) When you want to cash out, take your card to the cashier who will run your card.

7) They will verify the amount and ask you to enter your pin on a pad there.

8) Voila! you are handed your cash.

Only if it's refundable OBC. Non-refundable you still have to go through the casino. Just did it again in May.

That was clearly established in post 3 and 4, but thanks for the current information.

Was responding to the incorrect information you posted. Didn't know there was a limit as to how many times you could be corrected.

Or you can just go to the Kiosk and follow a one-step process...voila...cash in your hand quickly without all the second hand smoke. I have done this on three cruises.

I tried to get cash off of my sign and sail card from gift cards that had been loaded. It wouldn't work. Now if I have anything leftover other than what I leave on purpose for St. Jude, I just cash out at the casino. If I'm lucky, those few pulls first will get me a lil' something extra!

I had no problem getting over $1400 out of the kiosk on one cruise, about $300 on the next and a paltry $85 on the one after that. I wanted to cash out all of our OBC before they applied the automatic gratuities, that way they would be charged to our credit card...more rewards points. Not a lot but they do add up, and doing the kiosk withdrawal took all of three minutes tops.

Thanks everyone for the step by step. This is pretty cool. You can get gift cards at 10% off, and then get the cash at the casino. Ooops….shhhhh, or the loophole will be turned off.
Besides Carnival, does any other cruise line sell gift cards at a discount? Edited by drsel

Can you cash out at the casino cashier, or do you have to load the OBC (bought at a discount) into the slot machine and then cash out/collect?

I will try again next time and see what happens. I'll be on both the Liberty and the Sunshine soon.

You have to load it to your casino account via a slot machine as was described a couple of times in posts above. Unless I totally misunderstand your question?

The Royal gift certificates are just as restricting as Carnival's gift cards are versatile. There's a list of restrictions about 15 bullet points long of things you can't use the royal gift certificates for. I advise anyone getting them to read the terms first.

IIRC, RCI's offerings on AARP are gift certificates versus gift cards which have restrictions??

What are these 15 points and can the Royal OBC be loaded into the slot machine and then cashed out?

Someone mentioned that this is possible in Carnival.

You can look at the terms for the gift cards when you go to buy them. They're clearly outlined. You cannot use them for obc or for anything other than the initial booking. You can't use them if booked through a travel agent. And they also have to be mailed. That's just a few of the differences between those and the gift cards from Carnival.

And I don't know anything about your second question. Not even sure I understand it.

Someone asked if there were any other lines offering discounted gift cards. Another person mentioned RC gift certificates. I was simply saying to read the terms first for those as they are quite different from Carnival.
