TrumpyNor Posted February 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2018 We booked a GTY OW cabin on the Jade for our next cruise, and were assigned cabin no. 8088 which on the deck plans look "very obstructed". I am actually fine with that, as I upgraded from an inside cabin just because I wanted the slightly larger size of the room (actually saved a lot of money by doing that). But I would like to see photos of this cabin in advance if possible (I have tried both google and youtube without any luck so far). Thank you! I can tell you it's near & next to the crew staircase so might be a bit noisier also with the atrium lobby further back. Here are pix of the area coming from the elevators & stairs on the Gem. We liked that area & lots of natural lights, etc. + extra (slightly) room with bedding for 2, perfect for being frugal. But to be honest, I was hoping for some photos from inside the cabin instead of the corridor outside....? ;p

Had to restore mine from cloud storage first. These should help, got a few more closeup ones on closet, drawers, and the new bedside lights w USB charging port ... kindly let me know & I will search ours & share them here. Ours were further forward w oval windows on the Gem, portside. Rare mking8288 Posted February 9, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 9, 2018 (edited) Thank you so much, this is what I was looking for. I appreciate you taking your time to help! No problem, you are welcomed. Glad to hear this is helpful - final patch from the hidden collection, not all of them posted before doing the semi live blog. The round sitting stool was new, with "hidden" storage, just flip the cover open ... (i.e. soiled laundry ??) - but, I rather have the "old" chair with the seatback. The end table next to the beds, those're new - replacing the older ones as I recall from 2012. Feel free to ask questions. Luckynana Posted May 4, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 4, 2018 Thank you, mking for posting these pictures. My DH and I will be in an obstructed OV with a porthole on our Transatlantic on the Jade. I'd been hoping to see pictures that would show a comparable room to ours. Your pictures show robes in the room! I'm glad to see that will be included!:D:D
TrumpyNor Posted June 8, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted June 8, 2018 I just thought I should post photos from the cabin (Norwegian Jade, #8088, Obstructed Ocean View), even if it was very similar to the cabin that Mking posted photos of. The view was very obstructed, but I upgraded from a regular inside cabin just to gain a little more floor space and not because of the "view" - and it was well worth the upgrade! All though just a few square feet larger, the room felt kind of double the size of a regular inside, just because it was more space between the walls and lots of storage in closets, shelves and drawers. We had a regular inside cabin on the Jade last year, that felt much more "cramped" and small....
Rare BostonGal35 Posted June 8, 2018 #9 Share Posted June 8, 2018 i dont have photos, but we love the obstructed window rooms as they are a great bargain. we'd stay inside rooms if i wasnt claustrophobic. these work perfect because they are inside prices but give me natural light. Rare mking8288 Posted June 8, 2018 #10 Share Posted June 8, 2018 I just thought I should post photos from the cabin (Norwegian Jade, #8088, Obstructed Ocean View) ... Both thumbs up - excellent pictures & always great to share and post them, bravo !! Those are excellent picture and it looked like the Jade managed to upgraded the bedside lamps to LED ... do you remember if an USB port was integrated, we're hoping on ours recently (again, on the Gem but a regular picture window Oceanview - which has yet to get the LED/USB upgrade, unlike the Obstructed OV last year) They replaced the chair with the seatback, now it's a round stool (and, I checked its bottom by flipping the top cover ... no "hidden" or extra storage, like to put away those mini bar items) The newer bedside nightstands are slimmer, space saving - straight out from the *Away class's maker's blueprints. The bonus upgrade that I see & like, the newer HDTV with the storage rack for magazines, catalogs, etc. (usually, where I store the laptop & tablets when not in use) ... with the new outlets below it ... Was there a 220 volts outlet or is that somewhere else, and, not sure if they added the USB port(s) for charging devices. Overall, these rooms were cheerfully redesigned, with brigher & matching color schemes - we like it; and, for just a little more than an Inside booking, modest fees to bid/upgrade to these, when available - it's a win win, for natural lights & for location/ease of access ... being on Deck 8; never booked these - GTY assigned or not, for its views & obstructions, etc. Among the insider's secrets & tips on frugal travel. I was therefore dissappointed in finding that in the obstructed OV, that is a higher cabin category, there was only one USB port. And that one was situated below the TV. But the bedlights were LED, all though very different from the new ones that included the USB port that we had in our inside cabin last year.... Was there a 220 volts outlet or is that somewhere else, and, not sure if they added the USB port(s) for charging devices. There were one 220 volts outlet and one 110 volts outlet below the large mirror in the cabin, next to the light switch - see photo below. There were in addition two 110 volts outlets next to the USB port below the TV - see photo zoom below. We always bring a very good "world adapter" with us as our stuff uses 220 volts, so we were "covered"... Hi Boxer's Ma -- I am booked for room 8086 on the Jade in a couple of months. How did it work out? Was the view fairly obstructed? Any tips for me? If you have any pics, I'd love to see them. bluesea777 Posted September 8, 2019 #19 Share Posted September 8, 2019 We have done the OK cabin several times - on Jade, Gem and Jewel, and are going to be in one again next year on the Jade. We loved being on deck 8 and so close to the mid-ship elevators and O’Sheenans. We still got some sea view and sky so we know what the weather is like. A real bargain as we will not do insides. I had taken a video for you but I am having trouble loading it to this page. The obstructed view cabin was roomy with lots of storage space and we never felt cramped. We had a wonderful cruise through Europe and really enjoyed the Jade, everything was fantastic and the crew was amazing!

Excellent pictures - obstructed OV are among our favorite cabins on this class of NCL ships ... one of these days, we will probably be on the Jade. Do you remember if those bedside LED lamp has an integrated USB charging port - we had them on the Gem, very handy & practical ... Then, we found out they did not (yet) upgrade all the OV staterooms with the usb charging port ... (the ones on the Gem's Deck 5 did not) I believe you can directly provide the YT video link and insert them here - just be mindful of privacy on YT, and whether you wish to safeguard them. If unable to do this, provide the precise name/title of your uploaded video - folks should be able to search & look it up on YT. Regards.
