Cancellation question

Ok, so I have been reading so many threads this morning and now I think I have confused myself. We are hopefully sailing on Celebrity (Equinox) for the first time on October 15, 2018. My husbands job won't let anyone know about vacation requests from October 1-November 30 until August 1st. This is 75 days from sailing.

 

Can you tell me what I would lose if we didn't cancel until 75 days before sailing? We have a concierge cabin reserved.

If you book, get insurance that allows you to cancel for any reason. It's more expensive, but worth it if you need to cancel.

 

It looks like no cost to cancel 75 days before your cruise, but it depends on length of cruise, etc. Double-check the fine print just to make sure.

Guests must cancel their cruise prior to departure and must request a refund through the program administrator to be eligible for cash reimbursement or future cruise credits, as applicable. Credits expire one year after the issue date, are nontransferable, and are not applicable to holiday or inaugural sailings. The cruise ticket contract has a better (easily readable) cancellation policy. If your cruise is over 4 days, then you would lose your deposit at 75 days.

Look at your booking invoice. The cancellation date & %age are both spelled out. A lot depends on when you booked.

Check your invoice - it could be 75 or 90 days, depending on your cruise.

So, consider this plan.

If there are lots of available cabins at final payment date, cancel the cruise. When you get the all clear for vacation, book then. You will not have as wide a choice of cabins, but you may be pleasantly surprised at prices after final payment.
