CarlaMarie Posted February 20, 2018 #26 Share Posted February 20, 2018 Like others have, I have voted yes as it is basically a service charge. Tips should be given according to whether you feel you have been provided good service by certain members of crew, or when somebody has gone above and beyond to help you and you would like to show your appreciation. How much you give should not be dictated.
I_r_a Posted February 20, 2018 #27 Share Posted February 20, 2018 Hi 1001, > Gratuities should be rare and not proscribed.< Agreed. Also, in addition to a SC, totally voluntary and not shared among the crew. Ira

pisces14 Posted February 20, 2018 #30 Share Posted February 20, 2018 I've voted yes. We can give extra which is what we usually do anyhow, but it will mean that the staff get the expected gratuities from all passengers instead of only some. AnOnymously Posted February 20, 2018 Author #31 Share Posted February 20, 2018 Should be stable if staff wages depend on it.

AnOnymously Posted February 21, 2018 Author #34 Share Posted February 21, 2018 No, should depend on service given Sent from my iPad using Forums I think you are saying that grats should be absolutely at the customers discretion, but that takes us back to "are these tips for good service or are they just to pay their wages?" And which that is is not clear.

mercury7289 Posted February 22, 2018 #37 Share Posted February 22, 2018 Based on the other pole running and results so far,and in which I voted, yes, to pay full auto charge, and this pole on which I voted no, I have changed my view. I am a yes on this pole, therefore everyone pays

Josy1953 Posted February 22, 2018 #39 Share Posted February 22, 2018 How many are paying out of obc. Sent from my iPad using Forums Why are you so concerned about whether people use OBC for gratuities ? If you have booked select there is a strong chance that you will have OBC. I do not say that my OBC is for gratuities, I just consider my account as a whole and the OBC simply reduces the final total.

My loyalty 7.5% discount doesn't kick in till obc is used up anyway.
Millers Posted February 22, 2018 #42 Share Posted February 22, 2018 Possibly, just a question. Those that get obc, and not everybody does whether select or saver, are in effect getting their gratuities paid for them. mercury7289 Posted February 22, 2018 #43 Share Posted February 22, 2018 Sorry that's nonsense! IMHO You pay your money and take your choice, and for OBC's you have paid your money! You cannot level the playing field from the bottom upwards.
Millers Posted February 22, 2018 #44 Share Posted February 22, 2018 Why is it nonsense, maybe English rather than metaphors would be good. If you use your obc you,are using money that has been given back to you, yes you,can use it as you want, but it is still extra cash on your account Sent from my iPad using Forums

jeanlyon Posted February 22, 2018 #46 Share Posted February 22, 2018 Well you could say the same about getting cashback on the booking, but I don't see it that way. If you book an inside cabin, the OBC doesn't go anywhere near the grats. It's usually about £
john watson Posted February 22, 2018 #47 Share Posted February 22, 2018 I can only imagine that all those people jumping up and down boasting about taking their auto-grats off as soon as they step foot on board will be aghast at being duped into paying them by an increase in price. I should not be surprised if P&O keep files on passengers and what they do and treat certain types of passenger they identify, in a better or not so good way. Millers Posted February 22, 2018 #49 Share Posted February 22, 2018 I know, instead of all the boasting about how much we pay these poor overworked and underpaid (?) staff on Pando cruise ships, have a look at what’s happening elsewhere in the world, Syria Sent from my iPad using Forums
