we have the drink package on our upcoming cruise. Does that let you request a bottle for your room or is it only in bars and restaurants?

You can only use the beverage package at bars and restaurants, not room service. Also, it is not good for a bottle of anything except for water. It is by individual drinks only. If you want to enjoy a cocktail on your balcony, you are more than welcome to take both cards (yours and your cabin mate's) and get two drinks.

The beverage packages don't cover anything in the mini-fridge in your cabin, either.

We stop at a bar on the way back to our cabin to pick up unopened cans of soda and bottles of water to keep in the cabin.

It also is not good for the bottle of water in your room (except the one left there the first day if you're in Aqua class).
