Southampton to port everglades nov. 3 2018 on silhoutte

I was wondering if the Silhoutte has stabilizers. I know the Atlantic can be rough in November. Any information would be helpful.

Certainly she has stabilizers. No passenger ship has been built without them in decades. Those that weren't built with them have had them added. Whether the seas will be rough is a crap shoot. EM

Did a transatlantic from Southampton to Miami on the Eclipse a few years back...the only rough ride was through the Bay of Biscay off the coast of Spain....(and it was rough for about 10-12 hours) ....crossing the Atlantic in November was a piece of cake!

We have sailed out of Southampton on TA's at that time of year and we have had a mixture of weather. From the whole trip being like a millpond and the worse was outside decks closed for a couple of days becuse of heavy rain and seas.

We did the Southampton to Boston transatlantic in late October, early November back in 2016. The crossing was very rough for a couple of days. So rough in fact, the captain announced that no one should venture outside on deck. That being said, we still had a great cruise.

 

By the way, most cruise ships, and all Celebrity ships have stabizers.

The southern path to Florida has much smoother seas than the northern path to NJ or Canada.

We did the same trip on the Eclipse a while ago and had the same experience. At the hot glass show they told us that they didn't even schedule shows while sailing through the Bay of Biscay because it's always so rough. Other than that, it was smooth sailing.

I'm on this Silhouette TA. We are sailing from Southampton to Boston, so I don't think we will find ourselves sailing into the Bay of Biscay. (Perhaps skirting it?) Nonetheless, it will be a northern crossing in the late fall, and it could be chilly and rough (or not, who knows, weather and seas are unpredictable). We did a similar crossing a few years ago at the same time of year out of Southampton (to NJ), and we had a few days of high winds and rough seas, and the outside decks were closed.

We have done about a dozen crossings but only one northern crossing. The North Atlantic is subject to rough seas but you can have some wonderful weather also.

 

We did the northern crossing in the November time period. The year we did it the trip was much further north as our first stop in NA was Nova Scotia. The initial part of the cruise was smooth but chilly. We hit some heavy seas, fog and rain around Greenland but it only lasted a couple days. At one point we had to slow down to less than 5 knots due to such heavy fog.

 

We will also be joining you on this cruise and am looking forward to a relaxing cruise. At least if it is cold on the crossing we will eventually get nice warm weather for the end of the cruise.
