Seaside YC Extra Cost Items?

Hello all. I have a YC deluxe room booked on Seaside for later this year. Been doing some reading on this board and found a lot of great information. I still have a few questions about YC and hoping those of you who have cruised in YC could shed some light on them:

a. YC is advertised to have unlimited beverages at all venues on the ship. Are all beverages included, or is there a per-drink cost cap? Is bottled water included?

b. Specialty restaurant. I've read in another thread that I can order from specialty restaurant menu while in the YC dining room. How does this work? Does the specialty restaurant cover charge or a la carte charge apply? I find it strange that this was possible (if true) and let YC passengers circumvent the specialty restaurant up charges.

c. Anything else that'll cost extra besides the obvious (specialty restaurant, casino, arcade, shore excursions, etc, etc, etc)? I read that zip line is included. Cabanas are not since we are not in the baller Royal Suite. How about gelato? Is that included with YC? I'm missing Princess's old All-Inclusive Beverage Pkg as it allowed me to get gelatos and sundaes on Regal.

Any insights are appreciated!

a. YC is advertised to have unlimited beverages at all venues on the ship. Are all beverages included, or is there a per-drink cost cap? Is bottled water included? All are included except */** drinks on the beverage menu. The cost cap is in relation to those I just mentioned. Yes, bottled water is included. Still and sparkling. You can also get small bottles to keep in fridge as well as the larger bottles left on your counter.

I've never heard or seen of this happening on our 2 weeks on Seaside.

I'm missing Princess's old All-Inclusive Beverage Pkg as it allowed me to get gelatos and sundaes on Regal. All the gelato you wish to consume is included as are specialty drinks at the Venchi bar. There are several locations for gelato around the ship.

Any insights are appreciated!

Please feel free to ask any other specific questions you might have.

a. YC is advertised to have unlimited beverages at all venues on the ship. Are all beverages included, or is there a per-drink cost cap? Is bottled water included? All drinks with no or one asterisk. With two asterisks, you would have to pay. You do get a discount on bottles (30% off I believe). Water is included.

The maitre d told us that no, they cannot bring items in from the specialty restaurants, but you won't go hungry. You would have to pay the appropriate fee if you eat in the specialty dining room (unless your are a Black Card holder and then you and one other person get a free meal at one of the restaurants.

Zip Line is included, and you can have all the gelato you want.

Any insights are appreciated!

Just to clarify on the above answer. All items, INCLUDING those with one asterisk are included. The above answer is incorrect.

Thanks for your correction. I almost didn't post that but I don't have a copy of the menus to double check. :)

The 'Super Premium Selection' (items with 2 asterisks) was only introduced a year ago - at the same time as YC bookings began receiving the premium (deluxe) package as a perk. This has lead to some confusion around the subject. Up 'til April last year, everything was included with the deluxe package.

What you read in another thread was posted by one either extremely entitled or extremely sarcastic poster. Said poster had not yet sailed Seaside and was relating how great his experience in YC was going to be because he wasn't afraid to ask for all the things he demanded. It was everyone else's fault if they didn't get all the things he was going to get.

I have not read or heard of anyone requesting or receiving food from a specialty restaurant within the Yacht Club restaurant. This is a practice I've heard of on some other lines for suites but not one that MSC has advertised.

There is also a misconception regarding the YC restaurant menu when it advises an item "from the Galaxy/Tex-Mex (insert other Speciality Restaurant name here)" menu. This applies especially on Fantasia-class ships. Some read this as the items actually being provided by said restaurants, when, in fact, they just mean that what is on offer is from the menus - not from the restaurants. They don't get that something from Tex-Mex on Preziosa and Divina (for example) can't be from the restaurant itself as Tex-Mex isn't on these ships.

Ah that was where I read it. I tuned that poster out after couple more unrealistic posts. Just didn't realize that false information was from him/her.

Beamafar - Thank you for the clarification. So that's not the practice on Seaside? Wouldn't mind trying a specialty entree or two if they are on the menu.

Another couple questions for all - Room Service. Poring over MSC's website, it doesn't appear MSC has a room service charge like Royal Caribbean or Norwegian. It does say pizza delivery is charged a la carte. Do we need to pay for certain items, such as aforementioned pizza, off room service menus in YC? Also, are full dining room menus available for YC through room service?

Thanks again!

I remember being in YC on either Divina or Preziosa. We'd enjoyed an evening in Galaxy restaurant where I'd had rack of lamb for an entrée (apologies to a French friend of mine who cringes at the mis-use of this term) and, a couple of days later, it appeared on the menu in the YC restaurant "from Galaxy menu". I expected it to be the same as what I'd had a couple of nights before. Boy, was I mistaken! It was half the size of the portion I'd had in Galaxy. Nor was the quality anything like I'd had in the Speciality Restaurant.

Bea... Sorry to hear this, the quality should have been equal. Did you mention it to your YC waiter?

No, Cheri ... I just accepted it at the time. I learned afterward that, just because it says "from Galaxy restaurant menu" doesn't mean it's from the restaurant itself. It clearly states "from the menu".

Funnily enough, we had the mixed grill from the Tex-Mex restaurant menu in YC once and it was even better than what we'd ever had in the Tex-Mex venue, itself. That was on one of the Fantasia-class ships that didn't have a Tex-Mex onboard, so even the ingredients weren't stocked on the ship specifically for Tex-Mex!

We have sailed in the YC twice, first on board the MSC Preziosa 2015 and more recently on the MSC Meraviglia, in late 2017. Both times fabulous.

This was the drinks list in the Top Sail lounge. Wide selection of items included. Yes, unlimited watter. In your cabin, there is also bottled water, which the butler will gladly top up. Plus all the stuff in the mini-bar is complimentary too.

On the Meraviglia, we found out that drinks in bars OUTSIDE the Yacht Club area were also included. These included all the bars, up to one star on the menu. Two stars not included. For example, see this menu from the British Pub. Most of the drinks were one star. Those with two star (the more premium stuff), will not be included.

Another place to get drinks would be the Pool Bar. I got a Tiki Mule. You can also see the menu.

Enjoy!

I've never had the Tex Mex at the speciality restaurant. Here are my 2 "Tex-Mex" experiences, both in the YC.

While dining in the YC restaurant, I always try their house wines.

Have a great sailing, Bea! All the best, John
