"LIVE" - Ovation of the Seas (April 9-26, 2018), Bill & Marie's slow boat to China

We bought a picture for $25 and I know just the frame would have cost more in the states.

You will be bringing back quite a treasure and memento of your trip. Beautiful and amazing artwork! :)

In your opinion, how does Vietnamese food differ from other South Asian food? Is it mainly the spices they use? (Sorry if that's a dumb question.)

Along with the picture Marie also bought 6 of the mats.

For me Vietnamese food tends to have less spice but more vegetables which works for me is a good thing. Hoping to have five some pho in the next port

Thanks for the photos, were there are any monuments/reminders of the war?

I was anticipating seeing some on Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) if we had gone but we did not see any here. There may have been some but that was not on our itinerary,

We went to the Top Tier event at 4:45 which was the first session of two since there were so many return cruisers. Disappointing was at our session they did not bother to announce who the top cruiser was. Oh well.

I finally remembered to take a picture of the menus. Marie enjoyed the crab cake, fish then her usual vanilla ice cream. I had the seafood veloute, lamb loin then the chocolate and olive cake.

Hello to those still with us. Or is Wednesday April 18th and we are in the port of Chan May, Vietnam near Danang.

We took a tour today with David Nguyen of Vietnam Tours.

First we headed up over Hai An Pass on our way to the city of Danang.

First we passed some oyster bed, these are the eating type not the ones with pearls.

We were shown why we saw so many tires on the shore. The oysters grow on them

Next stop China Beach. The was a popular R&R stop for service men and women during the Vietnam War. I could see why, it is a great looking beach.
