"LIVE" - Ovation of the Seas (April 9-26, 2018), Bill & Marie's slow boat to China

Recommended Posts

Even though she is tired I dragged Marie to the show tonight. It's Mig Ayesa. Who is Mig Ayesa you say? He was one of the dozen or so singers that competed to become the lead singer of INXS back in 2005. It was a summer show that year hosted by Dave Navarro and Brooke Burke.

I know, big deal. But it was my favorite show that summer and now I get to see the singer who almost won (3rd place)

Will that was fun, lively crowd and good rock music. I even got to sing We Will Rock You with Mig. Well, actually we all sang.

All caught up!

Wonderful travelogue and photos. Thank you for taking us along. We’ll probably never do this trip. We’d both starve — I still can’t seem to use chopsticks and DH wouldn’t be able to find anything to eat [emoji38]

We watched and enjoyed that same show in 2005, too. Just don’t remember any of the contestants or who won.

We went to Jamie's Italian for dinner and once again we kept digging into it before I could get a decent picture.

Hello, it's Friday April 20th so it must be Hong Kong. So far today we spent 6 hours with the lovely Apple from Hong Kong Getaways Tours. Hopefully if the rain does not settle in we will spend another 4 hours with her this evening.

Most of our transportation today was buses and trains, quick and no traffic jams.

Our first stop was a Buddhist temple and nun9 in the heart of the city. Was a tranquil and relaxing place.

Evidently the buildings were put together without the use of nails as shown in the picture below.

Notice how few people are at this temple. When we get to the Taoist temple you will see substantially more. I will tell you why later.

These are fortune tellers where we did get our palms and faces read ( I am going to live past 90 and get rich).

You starting to notice how many more people there are and how brightly decorated the temple is. Well it was explained to us that at the Buddhist temple people are looking for enlightenment and peace and they do not expect to receive material things from the gods.

In the Taoist temple that is where people come to pray for wealth and personal health. Hence more customers.

I forgot the name but Marie used these sticks to get an answer to a question. You kneel and shake the canister until one stick falls out. Each stick has a number. You then tell the fortune teller the number who gives you information for that number, most cases a poem.

Here is public housing circa 1950s. These are all walk ups, no elevators

This is more current public housing.

Lunch was at a dim sum tea house called Chiuchow Garden. Amazing food that Apple ordered for us. Very busy when we'r arrived as it was lunch hour.

We then took a walk through the famous Peninsula House. Had to check out the Peninsula green Rolls Royce the use to bring you from the airport. Of course if that is not fancy enough for you, they will fly you over by helicopter for $3500 USD.
