Tre_220 Posted April 18, 2018 #126 Share Posted April 18, 2018 WOW! That has doubled in price (since it first came out). Years ago we thought it was great at $49 per cabin. I was one of those cruisers stalking the website each day multiple times a day to see if any had opened up. However, I think I would have to re think it at the current cost. Most of the time our children plus two of their friends travel with us so that means three cabins. I can't imagine spending $300 for FTTF. But for those that think it is still worth the cost - enjoy it. At the end of the day it is your vacation and your money spend it the way you like. I did enjoy having the FTTF option when I needed it. I'm just thankful that we are platinum now so it is not an issue.
Cruiseandswing Posted April 18, 2018 #127 Share Posted April 18, 2018 Its funny. Someone said it was $45 so I thought about it. Saw it at $90 and definitely said no. I’ve never waited on a line before at embarkation, not have had many tenders and don’t care about disembarking early. So until those things happen I will not get it. I’m surprised people do. Well just don’t fully understand the perks I guess. Sent from my iPhone wishing there were more swingers.
pacruise804 Posted April 18, 2018 #128 Share Posted April 18, 2018 Well if it made you sad, you have bigger things to worry about. I joke and "laugh at" lots of things....even with those near and dear to my heart. No love lost, just finding the humor in the situation. And I'll continue to do so...someone calling it sad isn't going to shame me into agreeing with them. If me cracking jokes on something you love offends you then you can do what you should've done to the other guy a long time ago.....put me on ignore. Or you can continue to stalk our comments and make idiotic comments that have nothing to do with the subject. I don't feel like going back and looking but the fact that you're bringing up how I conduct business leads me to believe you're the person who said I should tell my customers I think they're gullible. Why? Carnival didn't tell you did they? So why do you think I would do that? With advice like that, you let us all know that any rationalizations from a business standpoint you have are null and void. SMH....these two are classic. Have nothing to say on the topic and are obviously embarrassed they were categorized as frivolous spenders so they resort to trying to shame with words like, "sad," "childish," blah blah blah  My comments about your post being sad was that you laugh at people not things or ideas. I stand by it being sad that you don't see the difference between the two. I thought I did make comments on topic previously, but if not: FTTF is a service provided for a cost. Those that see value in it should purchase, those that do not want it shouldn't purchase it. Raising costs is a normal function of business. No one should be shamed for purchasing something they value. No one should be shamed for not purchasing something they don't value. Just because someone spends their money a different way then you do doesn't mean they are frivolous spenders. I don't see any value in casinos, expensive jewelry, drink packages, or art auctions. Lots of others do. We should be able to respect each others differences, but I guess that's "idiotic."
cruziJenn Posted April 19, 2018 #129 Share Posted April 19, 2018 Yes, it's true. No, it isn't. I said this before and so did Nic and Navarre. Neither FTTF nor any other priority will "let several hundred people onboard hours earlier"....Carnival does not open the doors 1 minute sooner just because of FTTF. It's just a perk to let some people move up in the line ahead of some other people (and so on). Some people try to move up in line without permission but buying FTTF gives us permission. And anyone that has more money to spend than I do and wants to pay $90 for FTTF then I will say 'godspeed' and move out of your way :)
CruiseHealing Posted April 19, 2018 #130 Share Posted April 19, 2018 I've never liked this program. We can not afford this package. It is hard enough to pay the current price of a cruise, but now to get an additional boarding benefit we have to pay more. I miss the days of when getting to the cruise port early had a value. Now I have to pick a time or pay more for a slightly better time. No matter when I board the ship still leaves at the same time:(?

While I can understand your point, did you also love when 3,500 people all showed up at the same time trying to get on the ship at the same time? You just can't have it both ways. You have covered two separate items in your post, but the new boarding process is MUCH better/ Sent from my iPad using Forums

People who already have priority via P/D will have one perspective. Others who purchase might have a different opinion. FTTF does get some people on the ship earlier than they otherwise would board, and their cabins are ready earlier than they otherwise would be. Mediterranean_Honeymooner Posted April 21, 2018 #133 Share Posted April 21, 2018 I purchased FTTF today. My "reasoning" is this: I have two small children. I do not want to wait in long security lines with two children. I do not want to lug our carry-ons around the ship for any significant amount of time in addition to managing two children. I want to have the ability to get my kids in the room sooner to rest for a little bit before muster drill if they need it. I'd like to be able to get our luggage sooner as unpacking the stuff for 4 people and getting it stored takes some effort and I want to get it out of the way. To some of you who have posted on this thread, my "reasoning" for purchasing this may seem foolish or even idiotic. But I guarantee you it is neither. At $15 per person, this may be the best spent money the whole trip. Just because you do not find value in something does not mean it is not valuable. And if you disagree, I'll let you spend some time with bored, overtired, cranky children until you rethink your stance. :');p
bUU Posted April 21, 2018 #134 Share Posted April 21, 2018 Ideally, FTTF won't completely sell out, but close enough, to maximize profit from the program, and also to increase average on board spend, while allowing all who wish to purchase have the opportunity. Precisely right. A product selling-out indicates that the product is improperly priced, and that the price should be raised. It sounds like Carnival has handled FTTF absolutely correctly, introducing the product and then gradually increasing the price until it sells out infrequently. It's all a matter of perspective. People who already have priority via P/D will have one perspective. Others who purchase might have a different opinion. Yes, and very few people regularly step onto the balcony and look at such things objectively rather than from the perspective of how it affects them. It strikes more of a visceral chord to either rationalize something that you believe you benefit from or bash something that you believe compromises your own advantages. So many of the most contentious issues are instances of situations where people are allowing their perception of personal impact to override gaining a true understanding of the situation. When check-in times open up for a particular cruise, priority passengers aren’t given different, earlier times. The earliest times are open to everyone, as long as you get to it soon enough. What you’re paying for with FTTF is the ability to board before most others, as well as all of its other perks. If you’re not priority, getting to the port early still has value. The earlier you arrive, the lower the boarding zone you’ll be in, the sooner you’ll board. I understand about paying for a cruise. We’re a family on a budget and save for a long time to take a cruise. That doesn’t make me dislike FTTF, though. It just means that if we decide it’s worth it to us, we save more to cover it. But no matter how much we explain why FTTF is good for some people, there’s always going to be those handful of people who will argue about it just because they’re here to stir up trouble. They fully understand that its value is subjective, or at least they should, but they’ll continue to rudely argue against it anyway because that’s the type of people they are. Nothing better to do but to hide behind internet anonymity to attack people on a cruise forum over something they want no part of. None of the other additional cost products & services on board the ship, other than maybe wifi service, are attacked as aggressively and repeatedly as FTTF. For some reason, this topic always attracts the worst this forum has to offer. No one goes after Cheers buyers, people who eat in specialty dining, casino players, etc. as aggressively as those who buy wifi & FTTF. Funny how that works. I figured that the worst behavior attacking people who purchase FTTF came from those who had privileged status, and was a reflection of their animosity toward sharing the privileges. But wifi? I guess I need to find those threads and see what reasoning is offered by those posters who attack passengers who purchase wifi. When do check-in times usually up? For our recent Carnival cruise, it was exactly 165 days prior. My understanding is that that is not something that is very consistent from cruise to cruise.
