Rare island lady Posted June 9, 2018 #54 Share Posted June 9, 2018 We tip each night in CK as we have different servers during the week. We also tip for each drink in the lounge. Hi Sherri! :) There was a recent post re: the lounges. Bartenders and waiters are doing a two week rotation (in the non revenue lounges SL/DL/CL) They are also not sharing in the combined tip pool any longer. Just one more reason that it is good to tip as served.

Rare mk-ultra Posted June 9, 2018 #56 Share Posted June 9, 2018 (edited) My tipping habits: - For stuff that automagically has 18% added to it, no extra tip usually... except for exceptional service. - For my cabin attendant: $100 cash on day one handed directly to them, in addition of the pre-paid gratuity. More at end of cruise for exceptional service. - For bartenders: tip hard, tip early and tip often. This more than pays for itself in fast service and getting pretty much whatever I ask for, in or outside of policy. I'm always on the deluxe drink package so I carry cash for this. If you are on the package and want to tip without cash, ask them to print a receipt and you can add the tip to that. When I've done this a lot of bartenders have been shocked. They didn't know it was something that could be done. - For casino floor staff: $1-5 chip for every drink (even though I've got the deluxe beverage package). I never have to ask for a drink. As soon as I'm nearing empty, one magically appears. Edited June 9, 2018 by mk-ultra

There can be 30 people lined up 3 deep at a poolside bar, and I can walk up and with a wink whatever I've been drinking is ready for me to pick up the second I get in the line. By day two, I'm on a first-name basis with pretty much everyone I'll be relying on during my cruise. It's not just about tipping.

Rare mk-ultra Posted June 10, 2018 #61 Share Posted June 10, 2018 I'm sure there are 30 unhappy people if that happens. I tip and I definitely get preferential treatment for it. I'm not apologetic about it. Tip, or do not as you see fit. I think it's nice to personally give a bonus to the people that make my life easier during a cruise. Pretty much every thread on here about tipping is like touching the third-rail on a subway line. Very polarized opinions. I'll just say it works for me, and it's worth it for me. It's the small, additional tipping in-person that seems to be very appreciated and also yields amazing service.

grapau27 Posted June 12, 2018 #75 Share Posted June 12, 2018 Hate to ask but is that a puffet your lovely wife is sitting at? Never heard that term before! The round upholstered puffet is what our food and drink was on.It is a well known piece of furniture in the UK.We had to put our drinks on plates to save them tipping onto the material.
