Rare kazu Posted June 8, 2018 Author #1376 Share Posted June 8, 2018 After our social time, DH and I set out walking and exploring some more. Eventually we decided we were thirsty. We found what seemed to be a nice restaurant and stopped for a drink. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Rare kazu Posted June 8, 2018 Author #1377 Share Posted June 8, 2018 The waitress here was very nice. She took time to talk to us about Amsterdam and had suggested the beer that was tried (and was liked). The cheese had filled us up a bit, but there were a few hunger pangs at 9 pm so we asked for a suggestion of something light. She suggested their Dutch sampler - brilliant idea - 2 of everything (one each) including bitterballen. Perfect! Rare kazu Posted June 8, 2018 Author #1378 Share Posted June 8, 2018 A bit more walking and we decided it it was best to head back. We had museum tickets I booked on line and had to find our way there (hadn't been to the museum area yet) so we needed to be up bright and early. When we got back to the room on the bed was our basket of bath robes, slippers, etc. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Rare kazu Posted June 8, 2018 Author #1379 Share Posted June 8, 2018 We headed down to breakfast bright and early and wow, a great breakfast. They had fresh squeezed orange juice. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Rare kazu Posted June 8, 2018 Author #1384 Share Posted June 8, 2018 Best of all, along with all the great selections, they had a cook who would cook eggs, etc to order for you. Bacon and sausage was in the container next to the cooking area. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Rare kazu Posted June 8, 2018 Author #1385 Share Posted June 8, 2018 The breakfast room is actually in the basement. But it doesn't seem like it because of the way it is lit. they have what looks like windows (they're not) with light coming through them so it makes for a relaxing area. Rare kazu Posted June 8, 2018 Author #1386 Share Posted June 8, 2018 Fully fortified, DH and I headed out to find the Museum section in time to make our Van Gogh tickets. Timed entry like many places. Amsterdam actually has a number of good signage for tourists so, if you know your general area, you are certain to be going in the overall correct direction. A typical corner street in Amsterdam. Many of the buildings along the canal seem crooked because of the delft they were built on. Very pretty. Rare kazu Posted June 8, 2018 Author #1387 Share Posted June 8, 2018 Our first visit - the Van Gogh museum. The building is so modern compared to the other museums in the area. No pics allowed inside, but it is definitely worth a visit. Along with the largest collection of Van Gogh's in all periods of his life, there is some good information on his techniques and history. Rare kazu Posted June 8, 2018 Author #1388 Share Posted June 8, 2018 The Rijks museum - massive and as you can see, not modern like the Van Gogh. No pics allowed inside here either. It's a huge museum so allow yourself time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Rare kazu Posted June 8, 2018 Author #1390 Share Posted June 8, 2018 The gardens on the other side of the Rijks are beautiful. It really is huge place. Takes a bit of time to even walk around it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Rare kazu Posted June 8, 2018 Author #1392 Share Posted June 8, 2018 there is a lot of detail on the Rijks museum. Here is a close up of one of the mosaics that line the top of one side of the building. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Rare kazu Posted June 8, 2018 Author #1393 Share Posted June 8, 2018 A close up of one of the statues in the Rijks garden area. I found the duo heads intriguing. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Rare kazu Posted June 8, 2018 Author #1398 Share Posted June 8, 2018 Lots of walking. Surely I have burned off enough calories for a glass of wine? Whether I had or not, we were headed back to our home away from home in Amsterdam to meet with our friends, have a drink and go out for dinner later. Our last night in Amsterdam as well as SailawayM & W's. Our hotel A few appointments to take care of this morning (the joy of being away) so I will be back later and hopefully finish up. Hope the pics are working still and thanks for following along :) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
