Suggestions for pre-cruise hotel in San Juan?

We are cruising out of San Juan on Fascination in December. Would like suggestions for a nice place to stay for 1 night before cruise.

We liked the Embassy Suites in Carolina (Isla Verde). 5 min walk to the beach, nice pool, and a happy hour.

We got an awesome deal on the Sheraton through Jet Blue. Right across from the port - wake up and see the ship. And can walk to board the next day. Lots of sights to see in Old San Juan all within walking distance.

I stayed in Hotel Milano right in the heart of Old San Juan and a few block away from the port. It was clean, comfortable and the staff was very nice. I would stay there again.

Have stayed in La Terazza de San Juan. Very nice 2 bedroom with kitchen and 2 baths, and right in the old part of town. Wonderful hosts, who were really helpful with everything!

Another vote for the Sheraton Old San Juan.

It's an awesome location for walking around Old San Juan as well as walking across the road to board the ship!

I have not checked in a while, but our last time, the Sheraton had a two night minimum

We also stayed the night before at the Sheraton and walking across the street to the ship was fantastic. Love the nightlife in OSJ too. If you want a different feel. We have also stayed at Villa Herencia in OSJ pre cruise. It’s a small boutique hotel (8 rooms I believe) with super friendly staff. That was also a great experience.

Agree Sheraton by port is great.

However for a very clean, close by hotel we have used

Courtyard San Juan Miramar.

It is approx $15 taxi to port maybe ten minutes.

Easy checkin- often got in room early, plenty of taxis to get to port right in side street that valet whistles up. There was also car parking if needed. Also less than 2-4 blocks last time there was a Subway sandwich shop, a pharmacy next to it, gas station. On sight at time was restaurant with a very reasonable price breakfast. Plenty of local restaurants nearby.

There is a pool, just never used it.

Room location - request a lower floor, not facing main street.

Reason for request: lower floor, easier carry bags down or less time waiting for elevator (that was only downside- slow elevators), and request a room not facing the side street- on a Sat. night my parents could hear club music until late. We in other side facing entrance car loop heard nothing.

Is there anything in particular you are looking for (close to Old San Juan/forts; restaurants; beach; close to cruise terminal)? That would help. We've done this twice and stayed, both times, at the Courtyard by Marriott - Isla Verde, which is right across from the airport and located on a nice, wide beach. Since our flights arrived around noon both times, we wanted beachfront. After early morning travel, it was nice to just kick back on the beach at the hotel. When we checked out the following mornings, there were taxis available to take us to the cruise terminal. After boarding, we had plenty of time to enjoy Old San Juan/forts since sail away was at night.

We always stay at the Sheraton Old San Juan. Perfect location for Carnival cruisers!
